Mine just turns off by itself when you turn off the console. Do you mean you want to turn off the game pad without turning off the console? That's a bit harder, you have to take it out of range and turn it off.

no i mean when the system is off it's basically still on like standby mode i want it fully off
so it doesn't drain the battery

That's why you place it back on the charging cradle whenever you're done
