So I went ahead and just bought my first surround speakers. I bought the polk monitor 60's off newegg for $129 per speaker. No tax and free shipping. I'm going to build my speaker system slowly for monetary reasons. Does anyone have a center channel speaker they would recommend to go with these? Thanks for your time.

Agreed. However, you may want to look into the CS1 as well. It's a little smaller but if you can find it for a great price then go for it. I know with some Circuit Citys closing, they're marking down their inventory.
I have the 60's and the CS2 and not only do they go great together with absolute timbre matching, they also output some great sound. Just got done watching Hellboy 2 (again) and I love the sound these things generate. |

I think i'm going to attempt to get the cs2. It looks like it can be had for around $130. I just wish circuit city would get some more in at that $80 price! Anyone have a recommendation on a sub around $200 or under? Driver, I think your sub is too mammoth for my tiny apt.

I love the CS2. I can't comment on the CS1 as I've not done more than listen to it in a store a couple of times. The CS2 is a perfect match though.
Honestly, the 40's are a little overkill. I love them though. They're huge, so be prepared. They also match up perfectly with the rest of the system you're looking at. When I was watching Hellboy 2 there are some panning sounds that come all the way around the listening environment, and it was seamless. Another option would be to go with the Polk Monitor 50's for surrounds. Then you don't have to buy stands. For me, between WAF and the fact that I had to lift them up a little higher than the towers would be, I chose the 40's. Consider using live.com to search for the Polk CS2 and using "Buy it Now" on ebay to get 25% cash back. I have and it works well. Here's what's on ebay: http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=pol...=cs2&_osacat=0 Or Amazon has it for $129.99: http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-Mon...6762235&sr=8-1 Last edited by aramis109; 11-15-2008 at 02:17 PM. |
