need help on my onkyo 806
My xbox 360 gets Dolby digital and my ps3 doesn't it just says multi channel how do I fix this problem

it says multi channel because the ps3 is doing the decoding of the hd codecs. it should say multichannel. thats what mine says and all is well! xbox 360 is not capable of multichannel pcm audio, which is why it displays Dolby digital instead of multichannel

Dolby Digital is a lossy codec, and the Xbox 360 can bitstream this, as can the PS3.

But if you want the lossless codecs, your PS3 will do the internal decoding and send it out as PCM, so it will only appear as "Multi-Channel" - change your PS3 settings to "Bitstream" instead of "Linear PCM" if you want it to read Dolby Digital or DTS and whatnot, but keep in mind this isn't the best audio experience,

Actually, if it says Multich, it's PCM and thus he probably is... or hell, maybe not since he describes it as a "problem."
