Default Sci-Fi on Blu-ray

I'm a great lover of Sci Fi & find it very frustrating that the best Sci Fi TV series seem to be coming out of Universal Studios.
I was looking forward to buying Season 1 of Heros but its only on HDDVD & I would guess Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica will be the same.

Is there a chance Universal will release on Blu Ray or are they 100% committed to HDDVD only

As I understand it Universal is exclusive to HD-DVD only, and I believe that until HD-DVD fails completely, we will not see Universal change sides, they may go neutral, we can only hope. I really would like to see Battlestar Galactica on Blu also.

MGM always held the rights to Atlantis, Sony no longer distributes them, Fox does.

Don't be shocked if Atlantis Season 3 hits with the other announcements, or at the very least with the "second half" in the spring.

I'll be surprise. They said Season 1 was going to be on Blu. As soon as I heard this, I didn't buy Season 2 on DVD, I'm waiting for Blu. MGM is slacking (and Fox) I'm going to pick up Season 10 of SG-1 to show my continuing support and most likely I'll have to by the two straight to video movies on DVD as well.

WB may not be the best supporter for Blu, but at least their releasing movies and TV Shows. I look forward to watch Smallville Season 6 on Blu. MGM my wallet would be happy to take a few burnt holes for Stargate (Both SG-1 & Altantis)

Don't ever look for HD SG-1, over half of it wasn't mastered in HD. I expect Blu releases of the movies though

MGM is tied up with Fox, so they have to wait till Fox moves to release their stuff

Well I guess we could see some of SG-1 Seasons on Blu.

I know MGM is tied up with FOX, I'm starting to dislike FOX on Blu. There titles are the most expenisve to buy and they they've been slacking on releasing titles. (waiting for BD+)

On the bright side, they're keeping me from being broke.

They're not going to reissue a 10 season TV show, especially when they can only do half of them at best in actual HD.

Fox was $5 more than everyone else with DVD too. Unitl a format takes off bigtime they're always going to be that way unfortunately.

Rumour has it that Universal signed an HD DVD exclusive deal for 2007, so odds are we'll see nothing in BD from them until next year. Given how poorly HD DVD is doing, I bet they're really regreting that decision...

Wow that's interesting. I guess the grass is truly greener. I've found that Fox has a lot of Sci Fi movies that I really want.

Firefly
Alien Quadrilogy
Minority Report
I Robot
Star Wars

With Sunshine and Avatar coming as well. I've always felt that Fox was more devoted to Sci Fi than Universal.

Firefly is definitely one I am looking forward too. I, Robot and Alien/Aliens would also be very welcome additions.

SIgn me up for most of your list too! Having said that, Firefly was a (great!) Fox TV series (they were stupid to can it so early IMHO), but alas the movie it spawned, Serenity, is a Universal title (albeit a damn good one). :-(

Default Firefly

Firefly is my all time favourite sci fi but Joss Whedon had to go to Universal as you said for the film.
I agree Fox seems to start some good sci fi but they always seem to can their shows early.

Space Above & Beyond was another Fox offering that I enjoyed that was canned early.

Universal will lose millions if they don't see the light !!
