he has 100% feedback. People have bought some region free player someone said "The Item I ordered was shipped quickly and was as advertised." But no one has actually said 'Yes it plays all regions." I want to get one but I dont want to get screwed.

i just chedked out the guys feedback as well, seems to me like he was selling them for 4500 based off of some of the comments left.

The only person who can decide if it is too much is you though due? do you think you will get your monies worth from it? I am not for sure, but i bet you could find one cheaper from another source if you investigate a little more

bluraymods.com have them a little cheaper. on bluraymods it says that it is manual switchable. do you know what that means. does it mean that you hae to hit a button to switch the settings to play a different region?

FAQ

Has this modification been tested? Will any disc from Blu-ray region A, B or C and region 1 2 3 4 5 6 DVDs work on this player?

Yes, we’ve tested many discs, both region locked without BD+ protection (for example "Speed" from Region A and "Transporter" form Region B) and also region locked ones with BD+ protection (for example "Live Free or Die Hard" form Region A and "The Simpsons Movie" from Region C). We've already sold many players in our store with no complaints (and due to the nature of this hardware modification we are sure the won't be any). We have also tested this player with the USA Region 1 DVDs, UK and German Region 2 DVDs, Australian Region 4 DVDs and China R6. 1.

Will this modification also work in future?

Yes, this is an advanced hardware modification, so there no such possibility that anyone could limit the usage of this player. The player's firmware can be normally upgraded and it won’t affect the modification.
That is taken from halfway down that guys wall of insanely long text. It IS modified according to the FAQ.

The MS Live 25% off is still working so you could get the BD30K model for $487 after the rebate...

Unless I misread the ebay description it is $799... plus you have to buy a converter if you have a USA TV. (?) The below quote is from the ebay description. Be careful what you buy.

"Will this work on my High Definition TV (HDTV) purchased in the USA Samsung, Philips, Pansonic, Sony, Toshiba, Pioneer, LG, SHARP HDTV?

If you purchased your TV in the USA it is most likely an NTSC only TV thus you will require high definition video converter which we do carry. The cost of the converter is $350.00 Please note this converter is not included in this auction, if you would like to purchase it please go to Item number: 330281576660. If you are intersted in both items we will offer you a $50.00 discount on the converter."

- The first link ($800) shows the older BD50, not the BD55
- The second link ($650) is for the older BD30
- Therefore, it is NOT the "lowest price anywhere", like the seller mentions
- Some text is copied from BlurayMods.com (where he probably got it from).
- BlurayMods.com are in business since > 10 years, so presumable quite legitimate
- The manual switching (BD) is by pressing a button on your remote (DVD region is automatic)
- JVBDigital used to be one of their distibutors (not anymore for some reason), but more expensive AFAIK
- BluraysMods.com is located in Sweden (with distributors in The Netherlands and the UK), but they ship worldwide for Euro 45.00 ($56)

Just my $0.02

Edit: The 'high definition video converter' the seller is talking about is BS. There is no NTSC/PAL in HighDef (BD), this only relates to Standard definition (DVD).
The player can play all discs and it can convert the PAL-signal (if applicable) to a NTSC-50 signal if your display doesn't accept a PAL-signal. Most HD/NTSC (60Hz) TV's accept this signal out-of-the-box. Refer to your manual though, to double-check.
