The first season was similar to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, in which it started out with a live-action bit and then moved on to a cartoon. It featured the character Johnny Arcade and the cartoon was his adventures with his team The Power Team.
Things changed in the second season, they went from a cartoon to a game show. Kids would play Nintendo games, answer questions, and try to win a chance to grab whatever games they want in the final round. In the last round, the winning kid could grab any game he/she wanted and place it on them (via Velcro). It wasn't as good as the first season, but it was entertaining. Does anyone remember this show? It was called Video Power. |

Yeah, I watched it every day before I went to school. It was on here at 6:30 or 7 am. I was jealous of the kids that got to run through and grab all of the games at the end of the show.

I remember the game show version. The final game grab reminded me of the Nickelodeon Super Toy Run from the old times, and yes back when I was a pre-teen that was what I wanted most. I seem to recall something like one of the games in the room was a secret prize game that netted a Genesis or even a Neo Geo if the player put it in his stash.
I trust he was nothing like Johnny Turbo. ![]() Yes! When I first saw GamePro I immediately remembered JD Roth from FunHouse and was glad to see another show with him it, especially one about video games. I wonder if JD is (still) a gamer today. |

I remembered it before it became the game show. It would have that "POWER TEAM" cartoon. It would start with a preview/game play/review of a game or system, then go to cartoon then back to Johnny Arcade. I remember that time where he was reviewing the NEO GEO home system and Arcade unit and how he was fake playing it. This show was the reason I WAS ALWAYS LATE for school during my 6th grade year lol :P

Was definitely a big fan of it as a little kid. Pretty much fell for the dupe that Johnny Arcade really was a nerdy know it all during those trivia segments. Also thought it was funny when they'd specifically tell kids not to stall with things like crank calling to Moe's during a Bart vs. the Space Mutants challenge round and they'd of course do it anyway. But everyone watched for the prize vest finale - always wanted to do that.
