Australia The Jerk / Housesitter (AU)

Two Steve Martin classics arriving on blu in Australia for the first time through SHOCK - The Jerk and Housesitter - on March 1, 2017.

Housesitter appears to be a worldwide first.

Yay! Will be nice to replace my DVD of Housesitter. It's one of those films I thought wouldn't make it to Blu-ray and I'm glad it's an Aussie exclusive...doesn't happen too often.

Wonder if JB will get these in stock...

It's one I always wanted to pick up on DVD, but never did. So I'm excited it's getting a release here!

I'm assuming they will, just odd that there's no listing on their website so close to release.

Yeah, there's a few Goldie Hawn films I have on DVD which haven't made their way over to Bluray yet. Waiting patiently...the other one I really want to upgrade is Bird on a Wire. I'm amazed that one hasn't been released yet.

Yand?

Has anyone watched the Housesitter Blu-ray yet?
I have been waiting for it to be released on Blu-ray since forever.

Can we expect this to be released in the US/UK or anywhere else in the near future?

Any reviews? Who has it????

Yes, I have it and have watched it. It's a serviceable transfer, looks better than the DVD I have, but it's not a new master and I wasn't expecting it to be, it's not like Shock would see a huge enough return on investment for a market as small as ours on a complete remaster.

Thank you. Is DNR or EE an issue? What does it compare to?
I am most sensitive to DNR.

Does The Jerk have the extras of the US release, or is it barebones like Shock's release of Fletch?

No extras unfortunately. Not complaining as it was cheep. Paid just under half the retail.

Caps A Holic posted some screen caps of Housesitter.

I'm going to hold off a bit longer before importing hoping the film she is in with Amy Schumer gets some classic Goldie movies BLU releases in the U.S.

Thanks for the link. Looks better than expected. At least it doesn't seem to have been molested by DNR.
Will have to get this one soon. One of my all time faves.

Exclamation Where can I purchase HOUSESITTER?

So, I am denied access to JB-Hifi for some reason, and the link to Book...on here isn't going anywhere either. Does anyone know where I can buy the HOUSESITTER on Blu-ray?
Would really appreicate it.

What you mean by that? Like a payment issue?.

Anyhoo, try their New Zealand website, they ship internationally as well.

And if that doesn't work, perhaps checkout eBay.

The Nordic release is a 1080i50 transfer with only lossy audio. There was a 1080p lossless audio Japanese release but it has gone out of print sadly.

Avoid the European disc.

I had always hoped one day Lionsgate would give us a nicely remastered Blu-ray... Unfortunately that didn't happen.

Surprisingly, Paramount/Twin released it in Japan with a 1080p transfer and uncompressed LPCM 2.0 audio track.

I was lucky enough to grab a copy when it was readily available on HMV JP.

FYI.. Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid has been released by Fabulous Films (UK) + Sgt. Bilko will be out next month on June 19.

They also released Bowfinger. I sense a recurring theme. Watch this space.
