United Kingdom John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017 | Keanu Reeves)

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2

Release Date: June 12, 2017

Quote:
Please note despite previous talks of the unaltered version appearing on UK home release.

John Wick 2 unfortunately remains cut by 23s on standard Blu-ray/DVD.

However, WB has decided only the 4K UHD will feature the uncensored version; hence the BBFC 18 rating.
John Wick: Chapter 2 Blu-ray

John Wick: Chapter 2 (4K UHD)

The theatrical release has been cut by 23 seconds to obtain a 15 rating.

Although this will likely be uncut on home video.

Nope, no cuts were made. http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/john-wick-2014

Perhaps they were being generous? The BBFC are an odd bunch after all.

The sequel though - due to elevated gore and violence the cut was deemed necessary.

It's because Warner are being greedy wanting 15 rather than 18 rating. So more teenagers can watch it and boost cinema box office.

Say What?!

You're gonna miss 122 minutes of joyous Gun-fu for a 23s cut?! That's crazy talk.

I've already seen this twice and thinking about a third viewing. This must be watched in cinemas.

Not if it's cut, home viewing uncut will be the best version.

This will be an easy one to skip in cinemas if it's cut. I'll wait for an uncut home release.

Point noted. Fair enough.

Considering this a pure visual feast I'd have liked y'all experience it on the big screen.

I'm with UncleBuckWild on this.

I watched John Wick last night in preparation for going to the cinema this weekend to see part 2.

I think nixing the cinema for a 23-second cut (all based on one
[Show spoiler]suicide
sequence is a bit daft if you were planning on seeing it otherwise.

Nah I'm not gonna pay the same price for a censored version of the movie. I skipped the first in cinemas too so this will be no different.

Plus I lose count of the amount of movies that I really want to see but just wait for the home release lol.

I'm with, er, everyone on this. Go see in cinema for the spectacle and shared experience. Agree it's annoying that there are cuts but that just makes home view better still. Best to enjoy movie in its natural habitat and have uncut one at home as a souvenir

I'd like to see what the director intended as opposed to what the studio was more concerned about (as in more bums on seats).

Me too. Which is why I'll probably end up buying it and watching it again, albeit fully uncut, once it's out on blu-ray.

That's why I put "if you were planning on seeing it otherwise" at the end of my sentence. Refusing to go see a film you really wanted to see at the cinema because there is a scene cut is a little silly was the point I was trying to make.

Although I'm pretty sure I've done the same myself in my younger days, but that was because the BBFC used to bloody butcher everything and cut out every single juicy bit.

Why is it silly? It's not silly at all. It's silly to pay the same entry fee for a censored product. I mean if the cinema is charging less for a censored showing then that's another matter but they won't will they.

I don't go to the cinema much these days unfortunately. I used to love it but there is so much these days that can ruin it that I tend not to bother as much as I used to.

As you well know, having kids and all the associated bills with home ownership you have to be more selective with any spare monies. I look at it like I could go to the flicks and see a movie or I can wait and get the BD for the same amount. I can watch it multiple times, I can watch it with the Mrs, I can peruse the extras.

I think I've been to the cinema twice this year (the Nick Cave flick and Star Wars: Rogue One. We have tickets for a trip next week and I'm seriously considering The Great Wall

Also, I'm old and shagged out so I'm usually too knackered after work etc. to go. Every night this week I've been in bed before 9.00

Last edited by Ste7en; 02-17-2017 at 02:18 PM. Reason: It was Rogue One I saw...
