Post When will we see a Blu-Ray only release..?

I was thinking about this and I am wonder "IF" we will ever see Blu-ray only releases or do you think there will always be "available on DVD and Blu-Ray". I am not sure how long it took but I remember when DVD came out the advertising was "available on VHS and DVD". Then it went to just "available on DVD".

I am looking forward to the day when I see "available on Blu-Ray" or Blu-Ray only ads. I think with in the next 2-4 years

What are your thoughts on if or when we will see these ads?

I don't think we'll see this for a long time, if ever. There are so many things happening right now with technology. Pretty soon we'll have 10+ formats to choose from simultaneously. Haha. DVD's are still useful for many things and a lot of people just really do not care about high definition. We'll see though.

Actually no. I have the DVD. Don't worry though. I bought it before I had a blu-ray player.

Yep that's right, not for an awful long time. What studio would be crazy enough to skip a release to what is about 90% of it's movie sales ?

While I don't see it like others have already posted, I DO see them making the ad/commercial seem more important (more Blu-ray commericals) though.

it won't be until blu-ray is the standard and has officially knocked dvd out of the competition. it'll probably be around the time when something new will come along and challenge blu-ray, @ that point, dvd may go under.

I think the first step the studio's need to make is adding extra content such as extended versions and alternate endings that are only available on Blu-ray. I don't think BD Live is going to grab many peoples attention and make them want to adopt. Other wise it may be a long time before we see a Blu-ray exclusive title, but with more retailers promoting Blu-ray through advertising you never know.

Baraka should be a Blu-ray only and they should discontinue the DVD. This film was meant to be seen in HD.

When they start selling blu-ray players at walmart for $49.99 and have a $5-$10 blu-ray bargain bin....then we will see "available on blu-ray only".

If the market is about 90% blu and 10% dvd then I would say you might see blu-ray only releases.

It'll be quite some time, in my opinion. At least 5-7 years, if not more. I don't think the majority of households have an HDTV yet.
