No Resume playback? - Blu-ray Forum

I have the Sony BDP-S350 and just watched The Incredible Hulk on bd. I was unable to resume playback after hitting <stop> once. The player gives a message stating "resume playback prohibited". Can someone explain why a simple convenient function as this doesn't work?
