Key points from the demo: This demo takes place well into the game, behind enemy lines on the world map. That suggests, along with the map shown, that it will hopefully all be seamless, open world and to the west of this Mordor zone, we'll get some of the wilderness like Fangorn Forest, and the plains of Gondor.

Can't wait for this to release I'm going to get the gold edition. Game editions are getting expensive now $40 extra for the gold edition. Hopefully the DLC is worth it.

Once I defeated Sauron, I just had fun exploring the rest of the map, building up my troops and skills while ignoring most of the newfound threats the rising Orcs were giving. If I saw them in the field, I'd just go the other way if they were one of the tougher bosses. I hope this game offers the same freedom of not having to defeat every boss to win.

Yeah, $99 for a game is a bit too much for me, having grown up with $29.99, 39.99, 49.99 and now 59.99 games. That's like the price of two games pretty much, so unless it's the most amazing DLC ever, I usually base everything on the main game and hope they didn't hold back the best stuff for the DLC.

Give it 3-6 months and the Gold Edition will be $55 or less.

Honestly, I just wish they would cut out the season pass and dlc BS and just give us the whole game on day one for $80-$100. It's the same value as a game you bought in the 1980's for full retail price. Generally, the production quality of DLC is less than the initial content, and its relative cost is much, much higher. It's a terrible model for the consumer, yet it seems the consumer demands it. I just don't get it.

I see what you're saying about DLC when a lot of it should've been in the main game. In some cases though, it's a secondary story that wouldn't fit, so it makes sense as DLC.
I'm glad there's an option and I'd like to see the percentages of gamers who buy the game on disc and then buy the DLC afterwards. I can imagine most digital gamers buy the DLCs more often? Not sure. I'm glad they don't charge $79.99 or more for a game or I would wait for it to be reasonably priced months later.

I hope Middle Earth's world is more realized this time, with full open world exploration of Rivendell, Hobbiton, Fangorn Forest, Gondor, Mordor, etc. If so, I'll get this day one. If it's just the darkness of Mordor, that will put a damper on the freedom to explore, as Mordor is mostly rock and deadlands, but great for the war against Sauron's forces.

IGN's info on the open maps/levels in the game, including more vegetation/trees, a human city and wandering beyond Mordor.

At 41:45 in, the player hops on a flying wing wraith dragon.
The game play looks largely the same as expected with any good sequel, though it doesn't look like the maps have gone open world seamlessly, and will likely require loading to each level. Oh well. That would've been awesome.

Even so, I'll consider this.

I doubt it ever will considering that with every passing generation, games get bigger and graphics get more complex. Going all digital would help, so would going from traditional hard drives to solid state. However loading times will never been completely eliminated.

Default Middle-earth: Shadow of War will now launch worldwide on Oct. 10, 2017

Quote:
Middle-earth: Shadow of War expands gameplay in every dimension, including the massive open world, the story, the RPG systems, and personal player stories of the Nemesis System. As with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Monolith is committed to delivering the highest quality experience. In order to do this, we have made the difficult decision to move our launch date to ensure that Middle-earth: Shadow of War will deliver on that promise.

We understand that it might be disappointing to have to wait a little longer for the release and are sorry for the delay, but we are working hard to make an amazing game. We’re excited to show more at E3

It's almost strange I suppose for a game to release on its originally scheduled date.

In that quote from the delay link for the release date, they mention a "Massive Open World", so it sounds like maybe it is all open world this time afterall, hopefully eliminating the need to load different levels as in game 1. I hope so, that would be great.

We can hope but I'm pretty sure there will be loading screens. They wouldn't leave people guessing if they managed such a feat.

I like that trailer, though they're using the gameplay assets to create the story, so the faces and lighting aren't always ideal.
