Ok folks i am in need of assistance choosing between 3 bluray players. I am kind of new to blurays but been a member for sometime.
I dont have much to spend about 100 total. I have over 100 blurays now been collecting for awhile even before i had a bluray player. Longevity is important of course. My TV is an active 3D set but im not sure 3D is worth it so im not sure. So far my choices are Sony BDP-S3700 = 75.00 Sony BDP-SS6500 (4k upscale + 3D) = 107.00 LG BP350 = 85.00 Or a brand new in box from a friend samsung bd-jm63c (4k upscale + 3D) 65.00 |

You just have to ask what your plan to use your player for, if you're going to use a 4K set or 3D, I'd go with the Sony or Samsung, the LG doesn't have any audio outputs apart from HDMI.
Basically it depends on your audio needs, the Samsung has a digital optical which is common with sound bars, but the Sony's have coaxial. If you plan to get or have a device with HDMI inputs, you might want to choose the one you can output sound through. Personally I'd go with a Sony, but $40 is a lot, you could put that towards a couple of BDs. |

Is samsung a good brand? From what i have been told is to stick with sony because samsung bluray players are not up to sonys standards. I did want to try out the 3D on my set tho but dont want to pay alot more for 3d blurays.
Like i said my buddy has a brand new sammy 4k upscale 3d player was just worried about samsungs quality. I dont mind paying the 107.00 if sony is going to be superior Last edited by Smellslikeralph; 03-10-2017 at 11:17 PM. |

I don't think you'd be disappointed with either, but you might enjoy the Sony a bit more. It's worth checking both, to see if there are Apps you use are included. |

I got an offer today on a ps3 250gb slim with 6 games from my buddy so i jumped on it and returned the sony bdps6500. Figured the ps3 does bluray. 3D and games.
Well i decided to pop in BFG and man i can easily see a difference. The standalones video quality was more stunning imo over the ps3. I dont have internet where im at since im planning a move so maybe the ps3 just needs an update but as for now i miss my dedicated player I only paid 70.00 for the ps3 and 6 games. Im debating selling the ps3 snd rebuying the standalone |
