By the way, if you're looking to pick up The Bogeyman, Base.com has it on sale for about 8 bucks.

Good looking out. That's too cheap to really pass up. Thanks!

American Horror Project V.1 is $45.48 shipped from Family Video, and in-stock as I post this. As it is (slowly) nearing OOP status, this may be the cheapest it will be.

Otherwise though, TCM actually has some pretty awesome programming in the late hours. I recorded Dracula's Dog off there. Totally b!tchin'

Thanks, I had assumed it was a sex comedy based upon the title/poster, and thus something I would avoid entirely, but Thrower labels it a 'fairly tough little drama'. Plus it was directed by Irv(in) Berwick, helmer of Hitch Hike to Hell and The Monster of Piedras Blancas! (Now where can I find a copy of The Street is my Beat? I guess I'll have to scan the TCM listings.)

I have some promo photo negatives to THE STREET IS MY BEAT, but I don't think it's the complete set. As for the film itself, I can't help but wonder if it may be the third Emerson Film Enterprises title that Ben Solovey (MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE, THE ATOMIC BRAIN) will be restoring.

I've been slowly chipping away at this book since Christmas... I'm currently about one third of the way through it. Most sections have been very interesting, though a few of the interviews have dragged on. As I was reading two nights ago I started thinking how much I'd like an abridged version of this book in documentary/video form. Seeing clips from the films while being narrated by Thrower himself would be interesting and something I'd jump on.

The featurettes/interviews he does on the AHP box, Death Bed and the Axe/Kidnapped Co-Ed double-feature disc are precisely that, if you have access to those releases. (He also appears on/hosts various Franco and Fulci featurettes - unsurprisingly - as well as contributing to the two 'Video Nasties' documentaries.)

Yeah I've seen him featured on a variety of other documentaries, including the 2 video nasty documentaries (which I loved) and will definitely check out the other two you mentioned, however I'm a sucker for Countdowns/retrospectives and wouldn't mind seeing this book turned into it's own feature length doc as well.

The movie was produced by John Harrison (composer of CREEPSHOW, who also stars) and stars Joe Pilato (DAY OF THE DEAD) and Tom Savini (DAWN OF THE DEAD). Landing somewhere between Michael and Roberta Findlay’s SNUFF and a student film by John Carpenter, EFFECTS is a meta-enhanced takedown on the philosophy of horror that doubles as a sleazy and terrifying movie on its own.

AGFA is currently working on a new 4K scan of EFFECTS from our original theatrical print — the only one in existence.

Stay tuned for more info on this summer’s release of EFFECTS!

Thrower doesn't discuss the film in his book, but it is included in the check-list (with a release year of 1978) and slated for a review in Volume 2.

Site review of Drive-in Massacre

According to Walt, Silent Scream continues to be delayed as he seeks an alternate authoring house.

So authoring issues and 'legal messes' - business as usual!

The latest ish of Rue Morgue (subscribe to this magazine!) has an ad for Dracula v. Frankenstein (no 's') as a 'coming soon' title from Severin. A bit surprising to see this other edition arriving so quickly on the heels of the Shriek Show disc, I wonder how it will differ?

[Show spoiler]

(The photo is blurry because it is a close-up of a small portion of the ad.)

There were 2 other films called dracula vs frankenstein. Could it be one of those?
