Yes. It is loosely based on the life of actual folk singer Dave Van Ronk.

Badass list on the whole, but that's an excellent and bold choice for #1! Honestly, that novel is easily in my top 5 ever. It's easy to forget it's based on a true story lol. Some great adaptations, too.

I liked the 2002 movie a lot, but even seeing it in the theatre with dad when I was 10, I was mad at the ending for being changed to the most generic and cliche possible Hollywood ending. Other than that, though, it's a strong adaptation (if somewhat parsed down, as it has to be), a lot of fun. I actually watched it the other day, and (minus the ending) it does hold up well.

Hey Darth Marcus, I saw one or two posters were specifying editions. Do we need to be that specific or are all the editions covered under one umbrella?

This was a tough one, so many good films to choose from (and maybe a few guilty pleasures).

1. Saving Private Ryan
2. Lawrence of Arabia
3. The Right Stuff
4. Ben-Hur (1959)
5. Downfall
6. Kingdom of Heaven
7. Amadeus
8. Empire of the Sun
9. Gods and Generals
10. Schindler’s List
11. The Great Escape
12. Chariots of Fire
13. Black Hawk Down
14. A Bridge Too Far
15. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
16. Patton
17. The Patriot
18. All the President's Men
19. Apollo 13
20. The Bridge on the River Kwai
21. Tora! Tora! Tora!
22. Battle of Britain
23. The Ten Commandments (1956)
24. The Alamo (1960)
25. The Sound of Music

Some I wish I had room for: United 93, Troy, Fury, Everest (2015), 300, and Valkyrie.

All editions will be covered under one umbrella. For example: if someone enters Kingdom of Heaven and another enters Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut, they will both count simply towards Kingdom of Heaven.

I'd highly recommend the book.

Anyways, yeah, many would not have a problem with the ending, but I have a deep revulsion to Hollywood endings in general.
