The first-and-only Blu-ray stand-alone player arrives in the Asia Pacific (region outside Japan) and in Europe. It's debut is this month (July 2007)
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Waah, I'll just fix the HTML later on. Anyway, for you Malaysia peeps, this stand alone player costs a hefty RM 5000 but since it's a first time model, Sony is giving away a free 007 Casino Royale (while stocks last) plus FREE membership to Sony style Card and/or Sony HD world card (from YTL bank). Same for here in the Philippines (player at 64,000 pesos) but you get to choose either 007 Casino Royale or any of the following available Blu-ray movies from Sony Pictures Home Entertaiment Philippines. Plus, with HD-DVD player nowhere to be seen (yes Toshiba doesn't seem to give a s**t of the Asia regional market).....except for the HD-DVD addon, it looks like Blu-ray will dominate as the leading HD format of choice (no doubt). This is going to a neat start for Blu-ray here in the region ![]() |

Haha
![]() Guess you're right. And since region 3 PS3s are PAL/NTSC which is the same as this BDP-S1E (except for Korea and Taiwan; NTSC only), I guess you're right. But for some though............the PS3 doesn't count....as for them the stand-alone counts more. This should satisfy those people. Speaking of which, Samsung Philippines DID launch the BDP-1000 player but only through intent order basis and there was NO public launch. Granted, it was still cheaper (10k pesos cheaper) than this player but alas, the first-gen Sammy doesn't have HDMI 1.3 & XV color (xvYCC colour space). I do give Sony one credit though: The BDP-S1E supports Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio when you buy the player. As for the PS3, it does support it...........but it is not available (a firmware update must be made to enable it but is not yet out atm). Granted, I'm gonna visit Sony Philippines HQ (Fort Bonifacio) and see this beauty for myself (along with the HDR-CX7 Handycam) ![]() |
