Default Polk PSW10 Sub LFE Dilema

So i just bought the Polk Audio psw10 sub from best buy! They had it on sale for $99 today! So i get it home and realize that it does not have an LFE input, just connections for red and white rca inputs! The old sub i had was an old HTIB box sub woofer that did have an LFE input

The polk sounds really good for the size (10") and outrput (100w) but am i missing out on anything with it not been connected like my old sub?

Does anyone out there have this same sub and if so, how do you have it set up??

Rock On!
Brett

Yeah my old sub was the same way you are not missing anything if you just go sub out on your onkyo to either input on your polk you can always get a female to male y splitter and go that route though.congrats on the new sub

Mine is set right in the middle..also remember that the on and off toggle switch should be set in the middle..so the sub can turn on and off automatically.

okay cool! thanks. i have the switch in the middle so that it does turn on and off by itself. I am going to have to figure out what to change the settings to in my onkyo 605

Do a complete recalibartion of the system using the Onkyo set up feature.

Where do you have it placed?Placement can play a role in your volume settings and rattle but over all half way is a good starting point and then calibrate to your liking on your receiver.

i actually now have it placed at the end of my couch, kind of facing my tv. I did have my old sub behind the tv unit but did not like how that sub sounded there.

Be careful with the sub..its not shielded...its as to be a certain distance for the TV..check the manual.

i have a plasma so no need to worry about that. plasma and lcd are not affected by magnetism i did however completely kill an old crt tv with a sub in the past! made a real nice rainbow of the screen! lol

I know this is an old thread, but thinking of buying this sub at Amazon since it's still $98. Is it still not a shielded sub? if so, the manual says 18" away. i have a plasma, but also have a Wii and a non-hard drive blu-ray player. just wanting to make sure i'm safe. Or, is there a better sub for that price? i already polk surround and center speakers. about to also purchase a Sony STRDH520 receiver, and just looking for some advice. Thanks all!

Does this sub effect led tv's? I have my at least 2ft away, but now I'm kinda concerned.

If you are willing to put some more money in to it for a better sub i you should take a look at this ( IMHO better than the lower Polk's )

Unshield speakers affect CRT monitors. They don't affect LCD, Plasma, & DLP ( BigDaddy quote )
