Default Teen Wolf - Season 1 (Out Now)

The first season of the MTV-Series "Teen Wolf" has been released on Blu-Ray in Germany by Capelight (Al!ve AG). I'm pretty sure Germany is the only country where the show has come out on Blu-Ray so far. I've posted some pictures of the set down below.

The good news for international buyers:
- All three discs are Region Free and therefore work in Region A-Players.
- The FSK-Sticker can easily be removed
- DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 in English (and German)
- Subtitles in English (and German)
- US-Video Masters in 1080p AVC encoded

The bad news for international buyers:
- The packing art and booklet naturally contain german text
- All of the extras on the third disc, including the Extended Cut of the Season Finale are SD only and are played in 50Hz and have German subtitles that need to be deactivated via the remote.

If the bad news aren't a big issue and you're a fan of the show I can really recommend this set. I sampled a few episodes and the picture quality is really good. The show is shot digitally and this being the original US-Masters the show looks exactly like it should. The DTS-HD Master 5.1 tracks are also good. It's still a TV-Show and the shows instrumenal score is a little bit front heavy but all in all this is a really good track.

If there are questions post them.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks for the tip, ordered. The Spain releases look to be barebones and only have lossy 2.0 audio, and from the reviews the video quality isn't great either. Hopefully Capelight will release the other seasons in Germany like this set.

Thumbs down Code Breaker might be deal breaker

This looks like a quality release.
However I'm really bummed out to hear the extended version of the series finale is only available in SD. It plays by default on the DVD so I'm used to that cut of the episode. That means it'll be a compromise every time I watch that episode.
Is it crazy of me to rather want the entire show to play in SD, rather than to have the entire series minus one episode in HD?

Edit: Any word on whether this is still musically edited? If not, that might sway me.

Season 2 was released on Blu-Ray last week and all the pros and cons of Season 1 can be copied over from Season 1 exactly (minus the Extended Episode stuff because, there doesn't seem to be one in Season 2). So the important news for international buyers is: Just like Season 1, Season 2 is also region free even though it states Region B on the packing.

Some pictures of the Season 2-Set:

Why has it taken so long to get either a decent UK/European release and Blu-ray of Teen Wolf?
If the show was so bad, how come it has survived 6 seasons. Though it is not the only show lacking a proper DVD or BD release.

Only a US NTSC DVD is available for purchase. Thankfully at least we got all 5 seasons on Netflix.
If the German release would use English on the covers instead it would make it much easier to purchase their BD relase.

A show not being released on Blu Ray has very little to do with it being good or bad. It has very much do to with the fact that TV shows on Blu Ray sell very badly in a lot of countrys and therefore releasing them on Blu Ray is just not financially feasible to a lot of studios. Luckly Germany seems to be an exception considering we are getting a lot of TV shows here that other countrys don't get (Eureka, Chicago Fire, Hawaii Five-0, SeaQuest DSV, Flashpoint, The 4400, Suits... come to mind).

As for releasing the show with English covers... Apart from probably not being allowed to to that for licencing reasons, why on earth would they even if they were allowed to? It's a German label releasing a Blu Ray set targeting German customers. According to the packing it's even Region B only (it isn't). International buyers a probably a nice bonus, but not a priority.

BTW: Season 3 is set to come to Blu Ray on October 13th.

Even Nordic releases (Norway, Sweden, Denmark) has the original English title on the front cover (mostly does with a few exceptions). Though the back cover is mostly in local language, but here also some exceptions as some Norwegian releases does have English on the back cover as well.

I'm not sure why anyone would want anything but the first season of Teen Wolf. The show devolved as it got more and more ridiculous beyond season one.

Season 3 is out in Germany. It's a 6-Disc-Set with 4 episodes per disc. English and German with DTS-Master HD 5.1 Audio and (optional) subtitles in English and German are available. US-Picture Masters like the previous two seasons and Region Free again. Removable FSK-Sticker.

Not yet. I hope Capelight will continue releasing the show next year. (There is nothing on their release schedule for Novemeber and Decemeber in regards to Teen Wolf)

These German sets are so beautiful! I’ll have to import them.

Howcome Germany seem to get lots of shows on Blu-ray but the rest of the world doesn’t?

Because Germans love Blu-ray, that's why. Germany is Europe's largest market for the format, last I checked.

I didn't know the show had come out in France as well. I looked at amazon.fr and cede.de and both list audio options as Dolby Digital 5.1, while the German set offers DTS HD Master Audio. That could be just a wrong listing though...
