Tour De France was a pretty big club hit back when the movie "Breakin" came out in the early eighties. That was my intro to Kraftwerk. Having seen this show live last year, it will definitely be a day one purchase!

I first heard "Numbers" in 8th grade then "Tour De France" in "Breakin" and I was hooked. The scene with him dancing with the broom...so cool. In 86, my senior year, I bought Electric Cafe on cassette and literally wore it out I played it so much. I don't import many Blus but I'm going to make an exception here. Can't wait.

Art of Noise's 'Beat Box' was also featured in 'Breakin' and the British dance act got a huge fanbase here in the States as well.

Still one of my favorite songs. Love the original which seems to be harder to find, hate the Diversion One version. That video got regular airplay on MTV too. Also bought In No Sense? (on vinyl no less) my senior year in high school. I credit these two groups with introducing me to electronic music. In college, I was really into industrial music.

I got into Laibach's 'industrial' sound when I was in college.

Thumbs up 2D promo for 3D release

Kraftwerk has released a teaser for the upcoming box set. It's in 2D, but you can easily imagine how well the imagery will work in 3D.

Another "Industrial" fan here. Laibach, VNV Nation, Covenant, Funker Vogt, Project Pitchfork, Wumpscut..and on and on. Definitely brought on by Kraftwerk, Erasure and Depeche Mode.

Before I commit to purchasing Kraftwerk's greatest hits performance disc on 3D blu-ray, I will have to read some reviews first. I love Kraftwerk, but maybe not enough to get a 3D blu-ray -- at least, not yet.

Kraftwerk is unique and very cool, but I'm just not sure I can handle watching this more than once - even in 3D. Learned that lesson with Katy Perry's Part of Me 3D disc. I slipped her into my 3D player only one time. It's been on my shelf ever since.

I might be better off investing in the trippy German Lichtmond 3D blu-rays. I don't smoke weed (or anything else), so even Lichtmond might not be for me. Although, it might be ocular fun while having some dark Bacardi on the rocks.

13thman: Which edition did you order from the UK? I see there's a 2-disc edition for 16.99 Pounds, and a super deluxe 4-disc edition in a 12x12 box and a 228-page hardcover book for around 104 Pounds (Total running time: approx. 436 mins).

Amazon Germany also lists 2 different editions, one around 30 Euros and the other around 185 Euros.

What's vague about this release is the title: "3-D The Catalog." If one purchases the vinyl or Audio CD or DVD, the title is STILL "3-D The Catalog." So how can we be 100 percent certain the blu-ray actually contains a 3D blu-ray that will be presented on-screen in 3D like the 3D movies we all enjoy? I hope this is not purely a 2D blu-ray that has the title: "3-D The Catalog."

They are also being listed as DVD AUDIO format, which is not the same as 3D blu-ray format.

I need to do more research on this confusing release.

UPDATE:

This report from Rolling Stone seems to confirm the 3D video presentation, but it's still somewhat vague.

Amazon.co.uk's "Product Description" for the Abridged version containing a "1 x Blu-ray 3D (2D compatibe)" should end confusion.

I went with the 2 disc edition as the product description included a 3D blu ray as per Paul H's link:

Card slipcase, containing 8-panel digipak with 1 x Blu-ray, 3D (2D compatible)
and 1 x DVD, 2D, each featuring the 77 mins version

Technical specifications
DVD
Video: 2D / Colour
Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1 [16:9] 29.97 fps [NTSC]
Region Code: ABC
Disc Format: DVD-5 Single  Layer
Audio: Dolby Audio   5.1  /  PCM  Stereo /
Headphone Surround 3D (Special mix for standard headphones only)
Approx. running time: 77 mins

Blu-ray
Video: 3D [2D compatible] / Colour
Aspect Ratio: 1.78:1 [23.976fps] / 1080p High Definition
Region Code: ABC
Disc Format: 50GB Dual Layer
Audio: Dolby Atmos [5.1 compatible] / PCM Stereo /
Headphone Surround 3D (Special mix for standard headphones only)
Approx. running time: 77 mins

But I am keeping my eye on this one just in case...

The Model is great but its not even their best track. You need to listen to more Kraftwerk! Its not even the best track on the Man Machine album!

Not a good sign!

The Amazon.co.uk's abridged version pre-order page has now been changed to "Currently unavailable" and the product description has now been removed.

^^^^^^

Yikes! There sure does seem to be a question about whether or not this Kraftwerk album titled "3-D The Catalogue" is actually going to be on 3D blu-ray.

I have a feeling it will be, but right now between all of the listings I saw (Vinyl, CD, Audio DVD) there is still some confusion.

If this does indeed release on 3D blu-ray, I am now leaning toward the 4-disc box set as it includes live versions of every album Kraftwerk as released to date. The abridged edition was too limited as far as songs tracks are concerned. Plus, the big set comes in a 12x12 cardboard case and it includes a 228 page hardcover book. On Amazon UK it WAS listed at 104 pounds (about $138 US dollars, plus shipping). Not sure what the price would be with VAT removed. The big box set has been removed from amazon UK for now.

In the USA, I expect this to be released on vinyl, CD and DVD Audio (no 3D blu-ray), but I could be wrong.

Hopefully, this will all be cleared up soon.

I wish a rep for Kraftwerk would explicitly denote / detail all the releases - I'm finding it very confusing.

~~

okay this isn't Kraftwerk but those of us that dig electronic bands, Soulwax's latest album and specifically this song owe they debt, and sound to Kraftwerk:

I don't see what's so confusing. The "[DVD-AUDIO]" format misnomer is a common Amazon problem, especially with music Blu-rays. If you want to put your mind at ease, the Amazon ASINs link directly to specific EAN/UPCs which confirm these are Blu-rays. Beyond that, it's pretty clear that the discs will be 3D capable, which in 2017, I would take to mean AVC/MVC encoded.

As to the listing going inactive, again, this seems to happen all the time with Amazon sites, now. You want to worry when official sources start telling you something is not coming, like Warner Music/Parlophone or Kraftwerk themselves, not because Amazon have made a product listing inactive.
