Hey guys...
Lots of research, thought and inner debate on if I wanted to go there. I decided to go there! Nothing major, just a budget build. I'm in process of converting my office to a theater/game room. It's a small room. Like 10x15x9 small. So I spent today moving things and consolidating and downsizing my office stuffs and moved it to my bedroom. No small task but it's about 90% moved. Just a few details and my office will be relocated. I already own a good deal of the components to get started and I have ordered wiring, an Optoma 142X and a 100" powered drop screen. The pics are of the new room in work. My next biggest job is to relocate the 1 or 2 BR's in my collection and downsize the shelving. Also not a small task. I will have a 7.2 set up (non-atmos), Infinity F/R bookshelf's, Polk center for now, and 4 Sony surrounds from a leftover project. For bass I have 2 ea Velodyne 10" powered woofs. I'll do blackout treatments and seating later as I am still looking at options. Probably 2 recliners ans 2 bean bags for seating. Also some ambient LED lighting. I'm always scanning Craigslist.... A few pics to get an idea of what I'm working with: Last edited by hifiHigh; 05-13-2017 at 10:51 PM. |

It's not exactly Cinema Paradiso but it'll do what I want it to. It'll be a continual work in progress too as I have lots to do but will work on it as I use it. ![]() |

More coming. I have the projector up and most of the wiring in place. I have been fiddling with the set-up...the picture is pretty freakin' good for what it cost. 459.00 for the Optoma (refurb/3 yr warranty) and 109.00 shipped for the screen. Still waiting on a couple of HDMI cables and I can start final assy.... ![]() |

Quick update:
Still working on it...gotta tuck and run wiring. Seating will come later as I'm still looking for the 'right combination'. LED Lighting on the way along with a dimmer. The pics are rough, really rough, but give you an idea. The real world video is 10x better then the pics and impressive for the price I paid. Can't wait for football!! See my homemade speaker stands made from scraps and leftovers ![]() Edit: the 2 Velodyne subs are impressive. Being such a small room and corner loading helps too but the depth and impact on certain films will move you! Last edited by hifiHigh; 06-04-2017 at 06:21 PM. |

Few updates:
Picked up my seating on sale and upgraded to Klipsch L/C/R's. The R-15 Ref L/R's were on sale for 124.00 and I picked up the R-25C center from a BR.com member for 160.00... (thanks dude!). Still work in progress - I want to put in dim-able theater type LED lighting along the diameter of the baseboards and add more acoustic paneling...those are low priority for now though. ![]() |
