This actually looks good, I'll give it a watch.
The pre-order is up on Vudu but no release date yet.

Yeah it does look surprisingly good. I checked the reviews on RT and the few there are are mostly very positive.

The trailer doesn't do much for me. But I certainly give it a chance, 28 Days Later scenarios freak me out. One of the only movies that actually scares me.

I'm willing to give it a shot. Even though I'm also feeling burned out on all the zombie movies, the cinematography looks gorgeous.

I gave this a watch over the weekend and it was alright. Sure it's a zombie film in theory but don't expect it to be a 28 Days Later or Night of the living Dead zombie film. It's more of a
[Show spoiler]buddy film.

It has some rather humorous moments , but also some really dumb ones.
If you plan on seeing this , Don't look at the spoilers I'm posting because knowing less about it the better.
The lead actress does a serviceable job in her role and it's needed because it's mainly her carrying this entire film.
Things I liked :
I thought the direction was good and using the back drop of the desert was also really well done. I enjoyed how the
[Show spoiler]relationship between the lead and the zombie developed into this odd friendship/big brother played out. This protector relationship took hold when Small's (zombie) kills the leads rapist while in the act. Although some may not like the scene it was a pivotal point in the film.

Some of the sarcastic comments by the lead gave me a good laugh on occasion.
A few things I thought could have been handled better was when she decides to hide out
[Show spoiler]in a abandoned house with no door. Come on, you know this zombie is following you, why would you think it wouldn't walk right on in.

Another scene early on has the lead with a bottle of vodka and a burning campfire near by. But it never occurs to her to set the zombie on fire. Now granted it probably wouldn't have killed it, but it could have done something to slow it down.

Another scene that both my wife and I said okay this is going a little to far is when she
[Show spoiler]begins to drag the zombie in a blow up raft because it can no longer walk.

This movie wasn't scary , the zombie violence is basically minimal but it was a rather different take on the whole genre. It reminded me of
[Show spoiler]Fido a little bit.

I would absolutely rent it first before purchase. For me this has no re-play value but I am glad I saw it.

It is a little tongue in cheek as to why the sand is stained red

I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.

Not like here. [stares longingly at Natalie Portman's creamy shoulders] Everything is soft and smooth.

I thought it was pretty good. Yes, some dumb moments, but it was fun.

It Follows which I despised, had similar dumb actions from the leads, yet it's considered a "classic". Don't get the love for that movie.

A film is more than just the actions of its characters.
