Default BluRay vs DVD Upscale - The Gadget Show

http://fwd.five.tv/videos/news-bluray-vs-dvd-upscale

An interesting video that doesn't seem biased. I hope more people watch it. I wish they would have explained the audio difference too though.

Well there you go. I could tell which was which in the blind test just by looking at the video. If the difference is so noticable that you can see it by looking at a low res web video, then there is just no way anyone can argue that upscale is just as good as BD.

Oh my God! How many times do we have to go through this!? There is no competition between blu-ray and upscale. Why? Figure it out for yourself.

I dont agree with but I can understadn statments like:
"DVD is good enough for me" (there are still ppl who think VHS is good enough)

or

"I'm not willing to pay that much more for the upgrade in quality Blu-ray provides"

BUT these people who think that upscaled DVD is just as good as Blu-ray......

What do they think Blu-ray is? Some massive conspiracy to charge more for exactly the same thing?

I would never subject my eyes or my blu-ray disc players laser to the pain of viewing a standard DVD ever again.

Just to clear it up I thought it was good that blu actually wins here. I wasn't trying to back upscaling.

How many times? As many as it takes to make blu-ray mainstream!! I'd rather watch 100 of these examples than see 1000 people buy an upscale DVD player because a store clerk "told" them it was as good as Blu and cheaper! Just cause you're a blu-ray fan and have a blu player doesn't mean everyone else is "educated" on the tech. And whats sad is many stores will not play these side by side examples in fear of eliminating a sale of any type of player. If a customer wants a $100 HD player, I've noticed many stores wont convince them that the $200 Blu-ray player is better in fear of a no sale all together (they may tell them but wont "talk them into it"). Unless of course its a Home theater type store that just sells HDTV's and blu-ray players. I can see a store like that running a side by side example. So I say keep them side by side examples coming... the more the world is educated, the more blu it will look!
