Disney Working For Peanuts 3D Blu-Ray (1953) [Region Free] Disney 3D Showcase Short

Watched Working for Peanuts on the 2010 Disney demo disc (ordered off Ebay). I saw this at the 3rd 3-D Expo at the Egyptian in LA 4 years ago and strangely didn't remember most of it though it was VERY good. Worth the price of the disc alone (I paid about $25.) Now if Warners could somehow release LumberJack Rabbit....

Working For Peanuts 3D is strange as the whole image comes out four feet into my home theatre room. 3D Film Archive told me the staff at Disney did the 3D all wrong on the disc.

That does sound strange. I'd seen it before, but stretched out to widescreen, so this was my first 4:3 viewing. It had some mainly mild pop-out but most of the image was behind the screen, it definitely didn't project out as you describe...

Re: Working For Peanuts:
Per GregK:

a tech which was working for the studio at the time decided the short needed "pumped up", so the convergence was altered so most of the primary subject material was pushed slightly out of the stereo window. A side effect of this change is visible 3-D "fringing" on both the left and right sides of the image. The opening titles were also slightly windowboxed for reasons unknown.

The above comments are looking at the at the short with a more critical eye plus knowing how it was originally shown in 3-D. I still feel it is well worth pursuing the 3-D bluray just for this short alone, and again is a highly recommended watch.

Maybe on a 55 inch TV it's "slightly", but the 60 by 80 inch image from my Panasonic 3D projector it's multiple feet out into my home theatre room.

Disney Working For Peanuts (1953) Blu-Ray 3D [Region Free] [Disney 3D Showcase]

Hi

I understand that a Disney short from 1953, Working for Peanuts featuring Chip'N'Dale and Donald Duck was made in 3D.

Has this 3D short cartoon has ever been included as an extra (in 3D) on any Disney releases? If so; which one?

I know this cartoon did feature in 3D on a Disney promo disc; but did it ever appear on any mainstream Disney release?

Thanks

It was re-released in theaters with Meet the Robinsons and is now only available on the Disney 3D Showcase disc.

Thanks.

I was hoping that it might be available as an extra on a normal Disney release.

I guess if it's only on the Disney 3D Showcase disc; it will be hard to find and expensive.

I'm in the UK. I've just checked Ebay and with postage it looks as if it would cost me about $50 and that's if I don't pay any import duty. It's a lot of money for one short film!

A friend of mine thinks that the 3D version of Working For Peanuts was an extra on the US three disc version of the 3D release of Meet The Robinsons. I think he is wrong.

Could anyone with the three disc 3D version of Meet The Robinsons confirm that Working For Peanuts is not (or hopefully is) on there?

Cheers.

I have the U.S. 3 disc set of MEET THE ROBINSONS. WORKING FOR PEANUTS was not a part of the package. I had to buy the cartoon on the demonstration disc through EBay.

Thank you for checking - much appreciated.

It looks like I'll have to track down a copy of the demonstration disc then.

I've also read about another Disney short from 1953 called 'Melody' which was made in 1953 in 3D. Sadly it would seem that this has not had a 3D release anywhere.

Thank you- I'll go and have a read.

By the way, I'd like to thank you on behalf of everyone who appreciates 3D film, for all you have done in bringing us great 3D titles.

This hobby would be much poorer without you and your work.

You lucky person!

What a bargain.

In the unlikely event that you decide to sell it on; please let me know and I'll assure you of a healthy profit.
