I would really prefer if Disney released more Disneynature films with alternate narration, as the American versions are always so mediocre. This is why I picked up the UK BD of African Cats, because there, the English narration is done by Patrick Stewart, and is far better than the same script read by Samuel L. Jackson.

With Born in Chine, I wanted to go see it, but was turned off immediately when I read that John Krasinski was narrating it. I like Krasinski as a comic actor, and his voice isn't irritating as such, but Disney is definitely looking for particular qualities in the voices of their American (and now, often sole English) narrators, and I don't think I could sit through a feature-length version of something like this:

further, Born in China was a perfect opportunity to get an Asian or Asian-American to record the narration, and I was surprised to see them not take advantage of that.

I guess I'm just spoiled by the BBC, but I'm very finicky about narration in things like nature documentaries, and I generally prefer non-American narrators, with the exception of people like Robert Stack or Peter Thomas (who are both gone, now ).

It would be great if Disney would release a Blu-ray with Zhou Xun's Mandarin narration, subtitled in English.

I'm not holding my breath but I gather this bluray won't retain the Dolby Atmos mix that was released to (very limited) cinemas that had such audio systems. Well here's to the 7.1 mix.

none, but this title unfortunately doesn't really scream first priority from Disney Home Video execs as to be released on UHD (but it should IMO)

I would like to see it, but I'd prefer to watch it with the Mandarin narration and English subtitles. It would be great if Disney released an Asian market Blu-ray with that option.
