Synopsis:

THEY’RE IN FOR THE FIGHT OF THEIR LIFE!

Prepare to sink your claws into Catfight, a brutal and darkly hilarious film that combines the violence of Fight Club and the poignant comedy of Arrested Development, all mashed into one of the most original and funniest movies of recent years.

Struggling artist Ashley (Anne Heche) and wealthy housewife Veronica (Sandra Oh) were friends at college, but their paths have not crossed since. When they find themselves attending the same event (Ashley working as a waiter at Veronica’s rich husband’s party), their initial thinly-veiled verbal pleasantries soon take a turn, leading to an all-out brawl and all-consuming rivalry that will keep these two locked in combat for years.

With supporting appearances from Alicia Silverstone as Ashley’s lesbian love interest, and Dylan Baker playing an overworked coma doctor, Catfight turns the portrayal of women’s fights in movies on its head in the most violent of ways possible, landing a killer satirical blow at modern day society.

I picked this up a few weeks ago but i have not gotten around to watching it yet. I didn't realise Alicia Silverstone was in it too. I have heard mixed reports but mostly negative.

I'm half-way through it via Netflix (thanks for the heads-up, Ste7en) and I'm struggling to get through it. It's... Ok.

EDIT: Just finished it. Crap. Glad I didn't blind buy it!

I just watched this movie. Brilliant... just brilliant. I loved the serious themes mixed with dark comedy. I loved every minute of it. Usually I hate watching women fight, but this somehow worked for me. Maybe it was the campiness of it. Why was this movie panned by so many people? Do people not understand irony?

I've had me eye on this film since its U.S. blu ray release last April. I never did get around to purchasing it but just recently Netflix added it so I gave it a watch. What a gem. This movie was exactly what I wanted it to be: dark humor with a smart script and great characters. Sandra Oh was great, Anne Heche was amazing, and Alicia Silverstone was an excellent treat. After watching this on Netflix I immediately ordered a copy from Deep Discount-- this film belongs in my collection.

I'll gladly blind buy Applesauce next, and maybe even check out Summer of Blood sometime.

Yeah this was a massive surprise for me to, really unusual film but with a real bitter anger underneath it. Very funny and acidic, actually could make my top 25 of the year.
