Kurosawa Box Coming to Blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

My all time favorite epic RAN will finally get the Blu treatment it deserves!

Blu-ray Movies The 'Akira Kurosawa Blu-ray Box (Limited Edition)' is coming to Japan on February 6th, and it will feature four of the legendary directors best known films, including 'Rashomon', 'Ran', 'Madadayo', and 'The Quiet Duel (Shizukanaru Ketto)' in stunning high definition. For the four-disc set, video will be presented in 1080p and accompanied by a mono PCM Japanese soundtrack.

This limited edition set will also come with a special booklet. No word if English subs will also be available with the release.

Mono PCM track! Thats great news! All movies on Blu that have a mono source need to be that way.

I'm going to have to wait for the Criterion release. Besides the Japanese mandatory express shipping kills the pricing on these discs.

Anyone else have that Amazon Exclusive Limited Box of Ran? I still have mine, not sure if I will upgrade this particular title to blu. Undecided at this time.

Hopefully this means we will get Seven Samurai sooner than later...

No English subtitles on these... sadly.

Hopefully this means Criterion can put these out next year. I'd get them all immediately. Rashomon is brilliant (the Criterion DVD cover is also one of the greatest made) and Ran is rather classic too... I don't remember the other two offhand, though I know I've seen them and enjoyed them.
