Haven't seen this movie in years. Still got my old VHS of it. Didn't it do the whole dream killer thing before Nightmare on Elm Street if I recall?

Yep, three years before the Craven film.

I jumped the gun and pre-ordered The Slayer and Don't Torture a Duckling when they were listed as $26 and change the other day. I'll probably get pre-order savings for both releases.

I spoke with Amazon about this last month, when you pre-order, they do not charge your card until the item ships and you receive the lowest price that the item was during the time that you had it on pre-order. So you will be fine. I'm hoping that Duckling drops to these prices as well. I've never seen Slayer but at this price I'll be happy to blind buy.

On the "Your Blu-ray Spending for 2017" thread, I always list the prices of my Blu-rays the split second that I pre-order them, and I never bother subtracting the difference when the actual Amazon price ends up being less, so my actual spending totals are always $20 to $30 less than what I've posted in that thread each month. It's of little consequence, though.

When this was first announced, I must have overlooked that it was a 4k transfer from the original neg. Now I'm even more excited.

This little tidbit is what makes this release particularly exciting for slasher fans. I don't know if The Slayer has ever had a legit US home video release so the only way to see it was via a bootleg foreign DVD, which I have. I have a really hard time justifying spending 90 valuable minutes squinting through crappy video transfers but sometimes you have to do it if it's the only choice. The PQ was barely better than VHS, needless to say, but now we'll be able to enjoy this gem via Arrow's sure to be fantastic Blu-ray release. Can't wait.

That's why I usually just add the title to my list and put (pre order) next to it with no price and add the price once it's shipped and the price is final.

Is it the uncut version? I heard it was trimmed, by about a minute, back in 1982.

Preordered! Never heard of this one but saw it discussed in the 80's Slasher Thread in high regard.

Excellent! One of my most wanted titles, along with THE INCUBUS (1982). I only have my VHS fullscreen (DVD-R) PALACE EXPLOSIVE release. I first saw this in 1984 and enjoyed it a lot. The Slayer looks great and is (very) sparingly used in the film.

I pre-ordered this, Duckling, and Re-animater all when they were still pushing the almost $40 price range, so yeah, when I saw Emails over the past couple of days saying they all dropped to around $22 bucks, I was pretty happy. I knew they would drop in price, just wasn't sure how much.

Looking forward to the specs and reverse art reveal. I actually don't like that commissioned art. I don't remember there being palm trees in the film. Or there were but it was too dark to see them

not very often an 80's slasher shows up that I haven't seen before (or even heard of), but it is Arrow, so a blind buy is in order!

A movie theater on Tybee Island, GA is showing this next weekend If any of y'all are headed there for the holiday weekend. Apparently this theater is a primary location in the movie.

OK, Tybee, this one’s for you! We’re screening the independent horror flick filmed entirely on Tybee in 1982, “Slayer!” It was also released under the name “Nightmare Island,” in some locations.

We love it because the Tybee Post Theater, in its most decrepit state ever, stars as the primary location in the film. It’s the story of four young people vacationing on a barren island. One of them, a female artist, has dreams that depict ghastly murders. Sure enough, the fun begins when her boyfriend is found dead.

The film company is coming to town to film some B-matter for the new digital release of the film. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to put it on the big screen for a big scream! The filmmakers will introduce the film and have a Q&A after the credits roll and you all calm down! If you were here in the early 80s, you don’t want to miss it. And if you weren’t, but want to truly appreciate the restoration of your Tybee Post Theater, you don’t want to miss it either.

Friday, June 30, 8 pm. Tickets $10 Rated R for, well, it’s a slasher
