Weird AKIRA Steel Packaging at Walmart - Blu-ray Forum

I was in Walmart the other day minding my own business when I came across this.

Not sure what it is because it is labelled a SteelBook, but it definitely isn't. It looks more like those old Viva Metalboxes which were discontinued.

It's heavily embossed -- almost too much so. I tried to capture it on the camera, but I'm not sure if it shows up well. It reminds me of that GODZILLA Steel package that was lumpy all over.

I didn't end up picking it up because it looks too lumpy and I already have an AKIRA SteelBook anyways. There seems to be lots of these in the stores.

Anyone know what they are?

actually okay i looked up the forum thread and it's kind of a cross between a viva metal box or futurepak (by the makers of metalpak), and an iron pack?

they were released 3 weeks ago. no stores really labeled it as a steelbook. just that it was akria the 25th anniversary

It's labelled as a SteelBook on Walmart's shelves (see first picture), but they couldn't care less for the naming conventions, I guess.
