So, barring re-releases and MOD discs, this is now the first Sony catalogue title of 2017, right? And the only other one announced so far is Lost Horizon, yes?

Meaning that the Sony output for the year could well be just 976-EVIL (1988) and Lost Horizon (1937). Wow.

Of course, this is a day one purchase, but still, hopefully, this is just the beginning of something more.

This movie kinda sucks, but I enjoy it alot. Nice to see Evil Ed again haha. I may have to see the alternate version of the movie.

This is great news if Sony is starting something similar to the Vestron line. Bring on Brainscan, Candyman, Children of the Night, and Night of the Living Dead (90). I would even buy Fright Night again if Sony could get the rights to the You're So Cool Brewster documentary, but that's probably too much to ask.

I wish Sony would do something like this with their non horror titles as well e.g. Just One of the Guys, The Principal, White Water Summer, Best of the Best, Toy Soldiers, Gladiator, Sidekicks, and Rad. They may no longer hold the rights to Sidekicks and Rad, but I figured I would throw them out there anyay. Real Genius also comes to mind as a movie that should have been given better treatment than bluray on demand.

I bought the DVD sometime last year & honestly didn't like the movie too much but I may still get to see if the alternate cut makes it better for me.

Yeah I keep hearing different things about it. First TT, then Sony and then maybe Criterion. We'll see I guess

Nice, a definite buy. My hopes for Sony releasing The Kiss on BD went up as well.

You guys are really getting carried away. Sony announces one old horror title, and already people are starting with the wishlists and whatnot. This is Sony, people. You will get one title, and one title only.

Would buy ALL of these.

Day 1 purchase. Keep them coming, Sony.

Regardless of the movie and packaging content, I'm just glad to get it in widescreen on blu-ray. Everything else doesn't matter to me.

The more I think about it, the more I believe this will be the first in a new line of horror titles from the studio. The clues are clear: the use of the old Columbia Pictures logo, the artwork and the extras. Is there going to be a slipcover? If yes, then that seals the deal. Otherwise, why would Sony bother with a release at all? They could've given this to Mill Creek or Twilight Time. If I'm proven wrong, then at least I'm glad they chose this film as their sole release.

I agree about this being a new line...I think it's relatively safe to say that horror is a huge seller. Companies would only be benefiting themselves releasing stuff themselves rather than licensing out. They just need to make it worthwhile for the fans and collectors.. i.e. Solid transfer, solid extras, uncut versions if they exist along with theatrical cuts.

Whether this is a line or not, I definitely hope they do Candyman as well.

It's not a line, otherwise they would have mentioned it via press release.

Candyman would make too much sense, seeing as it's the 25th anniversary and all...
