Default Anyone else love Patti Smith?

I was listening to Horses today and was just blown away by it.

Top ten record of the 70s imo.

Doesn't matter if you're into punk music or 70s music or whatever.

It's so good it transcends genres.

Patti Smith is punk, but she's so much more than that.

It's like Stevie Nicks and Iggy Pop had a baby.

...and named her Patti Smith.

I love Horses and I have it in my collection. Sadly, it's the only Patti Smith album that I own, but it's pretty great.

Check out Easter some time if you get the chance.

It's almost equally great.

Though I don't know if you could get away with recording a song like this for a major record label in today's environment.

Um...yeahhh.

Yeah, I was blown away by Horses back when it was first released. I saw her in concert in 1978, she was great. I also had Radio Ethiopia, which was pretty good. After that I guess I lost interest in her. I liked her in Song to Song, though.

How long has it been since you listened to Horses?

...maybe it's time for a sonic reunion.

I'm a big fan of Patti. One of my favorite female singers.

Don't forget her contribution to Blue Oyster Cult, thanks to her relationship with Allen Lanier - Baby Ice Dog, Career Of Evil, Shooting Shark and The Revenge Of Vera Gemini, to which she also contributed a beautiful backing vocal

Here she is with the band rehearsing Career Of Evil

Good thread! I recently picked up Horses and Easter, along with The Velvet Underground and Nico, as part of a move to fill some gaps in my collection. I like the look of that covers album - also I did not know she worked with BOC. Lots more to check out
