4 months? Seems like a long time between cinema and blu ray.

Never heard of this, but I really liked The Gift and it notes that on the cover.

Will now spend ten minutes having a research on this....

I watched this on Friday and it was a good horror comedy. Great horror moments and some funny lines as well, probably one of the best horror films I've seen, not a fan of horror films but this one was good

Horror comedy. Mmmm.

So like Shaun of the Dead, Severance type of horror comedy? Or is it just a few scenes/one liners like you'd get in Nightmare on Elm St. 4 or similar.

Heard nothing but praise about this. Directed by Jordan Peele, starring Daniel Kaluuya, and has been described as both an acute social satire and an intense horror film. Sounds right up my street.

Day one on this for me, saw it last night & loved it. A pitch perfect satirical horror movie. Jordan Peele is definitely a horror movie director to watch for the future!

It sounds great, actually cannot wait to see it now. Ordered off Zoom with a code £11 it's a good blind buy price.

Like the tip of rewatching it and spotting all the hints and signs throughout you will probably miss first viewing. Love those sort of films, so clever and gives a different experience when rewatched.

Saw this on Saturday, absolutely loved everything about it. One of the best combinations of horror, comedy and thriller in ages. In fact it was pretty much pitch perfect from start to finish and will most likely be firmly in my top 5 at the end of the year, if not no. 2. I knew the moment I saw the trailer months ago that I would love this movie. The story allows for key stuff that I always love in horror movies:

[Show spoiler]people who go visit somewhere out in the middle of nowhere then find out that not everything is what they thought or that there is an ulterior motive for them being invited there (see also The Invitation and The Sacrament). Also weird medical experiments and the taking over of someone's body.

I have to say I did get major flashbacks to The Skeleton Key which I actually rewatched yesterday to keep it fresh in my mind. Another great horror thriller.

Four months is standard for films that are shown in the big chains of multiplexes (as opposed to arthouse-only indies).

I wonder why the 4K version is so delayed. Says it's not out until September.

Probably because it's not out in the US until then either and it'll be the very same disc.

Yes, but I'm wondering why it's been delayed, here and there.

Anyway picked up standard blu just now from HMV. Some of their copies had slips, most didn't.

Probably to stop people importing the UK version, after what happened with Split. We know it has a US release date, but many would still import the UK release, to have it early.

Pot luck with the slips on this - Asdas has them but all the stock from Zoom doesn't apparently.

But I'm wondering why the 4K release isn't out simultaneously with the standard blu ray in America which I believe was already released. Usually the 4K for a new movie comes out same day as the blu doesn't it? I would have waited but I couldn't, so desperate to watch this great movie again.

(Third rate Twitter journalism but interesting none the less)

Was just going to type something along the lines of "Hahahahahahahahahahaha" and post the link, however as some folk on here may think that's just me being obnoxious instead I'll just say it seems a lot of people don't understand the definition of satire...

Satire isn’t the same as comedy though. The reason why it got entered in the comedy category by the studio is a political one. A horror film doesn’t stand a chance in the drama category, so entering it in competition against lighter fare gives it more of an advantage. The Martian got entered as a comedy a couple of years ago for similar reasons and it won.

Indeed, I thought studio politics were involved in the nomination. I was more interested in and amused by the reaction of certain folk (including at least one cast member it seems) who seem to think what was little more than an enjoyable mainstream thriller that in it's last 15 minutes or so takes a turn into quite absurd Society-esque horror was actually making some deep statement about race relations in the USA.
