4K UHD Releases in Canada? - Blu-ray Forum

Okay so... I've seen a number or announced 4K UHD films in past weeks and I can't find pre-orders anywhere in Canada.

E.T.
Close Encounters
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Are we going to be able to buy these? Or am I going to have to pay a premium to import them from the US?

keep an eye on bb they seem to get most of the 4k stuff. but they usely put up the pre orders like within 30 days of it coming out for catalog stuff.

There's no reason Canada shouldn't get these... it's only the titles handled by different distributors up here that may cause Canadians some headaches... Lionsgate stuff, for instance, handled (mostly) by Entertainment One in Canada. So far they've been good about releasing UHDs (John Wick, etc), albeit with no slipcovers. The upcoming Terminator 2 4K remaster is also being handled by Mongrel Media in Canada, while Lionsgate is releasing it in the US... supposedly Mongrel will be putting out a UHD edition as well, though. Hopefully the disc contents/bonus features aren't inferior to its US counterpart.

So far my local Best Buy has been very good about having stock of catalog UHD releases on release day... picked up Fifth Element, Leon, Independence Day, Unforgiven, Goodfellas and the original Ghostbusters films from Best Buy.

If you're out west, most can be picked up at London Drugs (in store). They tend to have the best eOne 4k prices, annnd the worst Sony prices.

Yeah, they sometimes have good prices on release week. Its really hit and miss with them though. Also if the title is over a week or 2 old I would not bother with them. For example, yesterday I saw they raised the price of Lego Batman 4K to $49.99.

Anybody know where to find Ex Machina 4K in Canada? Amazon doesn't have it and I didn't see it at WM or BB either. Thanks.

I think London Drugs had Goodfellas for $ 49.99 as well, crazy.

Still can't find Blade Runner for pre-order at any of the major retailers. I thought this would have been considered a fairly high profile release, so I'm quite surprised (and frustrated). WOWHD has it listed at $56, which is a bit nuts! Never had any other issues finding Warner titles here in Canada.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets UHD, Is there a Canadian release of this ?, there is no pre-order at Amazon.ca or Best Buy, hopefully it will pop up soon as it gets closer to release date.

I think it's this one, as usual it's a bit of a deciphering job to figure out what's what at Amazon. It does say 4K in the "About this item" section:
