I owed all these movies on dvd before. Now i want buy them again on blu and the reason why i ask you guys, instead of just reading the reviews on this web site or any other site is because they give mix reviews. Also sometimes if they like the movie they will give it a good review and if not they trash it. I bought few movies based on the good reviews ,that i now hear that will be Re-Release like goodfellas,Batman Begins,Dog Day Afternoon, and kiss kiss bang bang. that`s not fair for a guy who has to double dip 95 of his movies.

Most BDs will beat the SD DVD and that is the general consensus, some more than others but the majority aren't reference material.

I'd say buy the movies you like the most and take it from there. Rental is advisable if not familiar with the movie but rental is what I do for the most part as I own about 50 titles to date. I have a about 100 SD DVDs and I haven't really duplicated very many. Most purchases are for new material.

Out of those I would go with Shawshank, American Gangster, and Gattaca. Like others have been saying, don't buy directly from big retail stores, you can get almost all blu-rays for $20 or less at Amazon.com or Half.com.

1,2 and 3 sound like good choices movie-wise and considering Blu-ray treatment.

Dark City
Lives of Others (Excellent movie and I read it looks amazing)
Kill Bill Vol. 1 (Again)

Shawshank is a great film, I just don't know how it looks on Blu-ray.

Yeah its an issue! Is it being an issue with me an issue for you?

You know why its an issue? Because we get a zillion threads like this and they we spend 4 pages on why is so in so not on your list. The author of this thread should be MORE specific on what he wants the reader to answer. Clearly he wants all the titles in is post.....so, are we answering his question based on? PQ? AQ? Or our pesonal taste in a certain film? And its not until page 2 do we get any clarity...

1.Dark City
2.The Lives of Others
3.Kill Bill Vol. 1
4.lucky number slevin
5.Gattaca
6.American Gangster
7.The Lookout
8.The Shawshank Redemption
9.Gone Baby Gone
10.Donnie Brasco
I would pick Dark City, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Gone Baby Gone. All good films! How come you haven't included Kill Bill Vol 2? You have it already?
Why not get 'em all and sink yourself further into credit card debt like most of us here! j/k

i know you said you dont have a credit card, but if you find a way to purchase off of amazon i would do that over best buy. amazon has a buy 2 get 1 free sale going on right now and the 2 titles i bolded above (which are FANTASTIC movies) are part of it, plus they're both under 20 on amazon. so you'll end up spending low 40s for 3 blurays

um, i think the OP was pretty specific when he listed 10 titles to choose from. if its an issue for you why are you posting in this thread in the first place. it's not like it will stop people from creating new threads asking "which bluray should i buy first?" yeah its annoying, but its just a forum. on the internet. where you have the amazing ability to look past anything that bothers you.
