Default Quality cables do matter.

Case in point. I bought a cheap pair of PS3 component cables. 6.00. There is a vertical purple line that keeps moving and caused my screen to turn green then pink. Yes, I double checked the connection. Today, I bought the offical Sony PS3 component cables for 25.00. (paid only 15.00 with my Best Buy discount.) And what a difference..No defects, and the sharpest picture I ever seen. A bit better then HDMI, but my TV is also analog, so it should. In the end, don't buy cheap off brand PS3 cables, and don't beleive people who say all cables are the same and quality doesn't matter..Ante up for the official Sony PS3 component cables.

Quality cables definetely matter for analog, not so much for digital.

Quality cables do matter, but expensive cables don't matter. Some companies and some people have completely lost their minds. For example, Oracle MA Bi-Wire Speaker Cables (10 ft) from MIT Cables are listed at a bargain price of $27,300.

If you can't afford those, MIT Cables has cheaper speaker wires (sorry, I meant to say cables) for only a few hundred or a couple of thousand dollars.

I have a garage full of expensive and crazy looking cables that I paid a fortune for them with no significant improvement in sound.

Trust me. You can use 12 gauge lamp cords from a hardware store (less than $10) with excellent results.

By my standards, you can't even use Monster cables with excellent results, but it also depends on whether we have gear that will be unforgiving of any weak link.

Why people brag on spending 8,000 on a cable is beyond me..
