When I visit this Blu-ray.com forum several times each and every day, this is the type of announcement that I'm always hoping to see.

I loved The Master back when it aired on television when I was in sixth grade, but I was never able to see the show again after it was canceled. This show was my introduction to Lee Van Cleef, and I always think about it when I see one of his old spaghetti westerns.

No kidding. I pray every day to the Gods of the Eighties that they will deliver unto me an A-Team blu ray, but getting The Master? That was a prayer answered that I didnt know I was asking.

[Show spoiler]And yes, I know that there's an A-Team set in the UK. I'm holding out for a collection that doesn't set me me back 250 bones.

Wow, this is an amazing and unexpected announcement. I was always surprised this wasn't a hit on tv. To me, 1984 was still in the peak of the 80's ninja craze.

I haven't seen most of the episodes since they aired or on those double episode Master Ninja VHS tapes from all those years ago. I do have a DVD from Platinum that has two episodes on it, "Max" and "Out-of-Time-Step". Not only is the picture quality atrocious., but the sound is completely out of sync in "Out-of-Time-Step" by several seconds, making it unwatchable.

Can't wait for this.

Awesome news, The Master is just about the most underrated '80s television series.

Just watched a trailer and the title sequence, and damn, I must get this . I never even heard about it (doubt it ever aired on austrian tv in the 80s, and even if it did, I was probably too young), but i was in a small ninja craze lately, watched everything ninja-related in my collection in only a couple of days, so I am very happy there's more coming.

I've never seen this show before, but watching the opening, I thought the music sounded really similar to some of the For Your Eyes Only music. Looked it up, and it's the same composer. This ends your useless trivia for the day.

I'm totally on-board with this. My god, just take a look at some of the stuff already on my shelves - can this be any worse than Force Five or Exterminators of the Year 3000 or any of the other cheese and schlock on my shelf? Probably not.

They should edit together all the Sho Kosugi (Osaka) scenes as a special feature. I remember as a (very young) kid that was the entire reason I'd watch the show . Didn't care about anything else....still loved it whenever I was lucky enough to catch an episode on TV (it never seemed to come on at a consistent time ).

I like From Hell It Came.

That pretty much means that I'll like anything.

I really dig The Master theme song. I just heard it again for the first time in 33 years (per the video posted earlier in this thread), and the memories came flooding back. Great stuff here, and somewhat iconic in a way. The silhouettes of the ninjas fighting (in the opening) do somewhat remind me of a Bond film - which is probably intentional.

I don't care what anyone says, The Master was a great '80's TV series, and I also remember (as was said) that it came out at the height of interest in Ninjas, ninja weapons, etc.

As a young teen during this time, I even remember having a couple of throwing stars. I have no idea where they are no, however - LOL.

The solicitation on this page mentions that the Blu is coming later this year. I checked, and it's not on Amazon yet. Hopefully it will be out before the end of 2017, but I won't be holding my breath.

Kino's sets are usually pretty reasonable especially if you get them during pre-order. I am guessing that'll be up around a month before it is to be released. (if it follows typically pre-orders)

The Master is pure ninja crack.

It's a show for anyone that enjoys the American Ninja franchise or Sho Kosugi's ninja films like Rage of Honor.

As a fan of Mystery Science Theater I've always thought somewhat highly of The Master/Master Ninja. It's one of the more enjoyable TV-shows-hastily-edited-into-movies they've done, perhaps third to Star Wolf and Gemini Man.

Perhaps that's not exactly a glowing review, but I do like seeing stuff from the series on blu-ray if I ever get the chance. If the price is right this is definitely going in the collection.

I remember this being featured in the great martial arts documentary called "The Deadliest Art" in the early 90's.
