Default Pioneer SC-95 separate amplifer question

Hi, the Elite has every pre out for every speaker. However in the manual it doesnt show any speaker setting that is for all speakers on preout.

How do I have it so all my speakers are running off the emotivas and not the pioneer?

this is the manual if it helps...

Hey I can't help you as I am just getting ready to intergrate an amp. So your question will help me as well. I do have a question on the Sc-95. What is your impression of the unit. I am really considering this as an upgrade and possibly a Denton that is supposed to go on sale I just found out about.
Thank you.

by not connecting your speakers to the Pio and connecting them to the emotiva amp via interconnects from the Pio pre-outs.

Done & Done, first round of cold ones is on you!

Thank you.
I love the unit. Has ample amount of power. I just have emotiva amplifiers I picked up that I want to use otherwise the receiver is just fine to run demanding speakers as long as you have a sub to handle the lower extensions.

MCACC Pro is good, the sound quality is wonderful. Lots of features, never feel like Im missing anything.

I wouldnt hesitate to buy another Pioneer Elite, but then you'll have fans of Denon, Marantz, Onkyo too.

Thank you for the review of the unit. I bought a dennon that was just a quick fix for a secondary system hardly used but when I did it felt it never had the oomph that my onkyo did. This would be my 1st true adventure away from onkyo but onkyo's new receivers do not seem to have the specs and standards they use to. I know pioneer is a division of Onkyo but it seems like an all around better pick up other than spending 2-3k on one. I just feel as Onkyo mid to low high end receivers dropped the ball the last couple of years.
Thank you again.

Antimatter,
the SC-95 -97 -99 were the last Pioneer Elites released before the Onkyo purchase of Pioneer, so no Onkyo influence there. I have the 95 and very pleased with it.
I also have an older Denon (AVR1712) that is fine in the living room, but the Pioneer has significantly more power and flexibility.
The only downside is that the GUI is pretty clunky looking compared to more modern looks from Denon/Yamaha etc. it works, but not so pretty. Many people use the Pioneer iOS/Android control app which is quite good.

Awesome. Thank you for the info on the pioneer. That's nice to know it is a true pioneer. I'm not to concerned with GUI so no worries with that. I really like the driving power. Especially because I was looking to hook up maybe an outlaw amp to cover 1 rear channel and 4 height channels at 120w. With the receiver driving the other 6 at 126w. Keeping them all powered at roughly the same watts and having all the same speakers will ensure the best balance where nothing is maxed or severely underpowered. I hope that's good logic...lol

Just a thought... same receiver here and quite happy with it. Im running atmos 7.2.4 with an emotiva A300 to run the front LR channels (the most worked channels). Let the amp handle the heights and surrounds and this will save you a few $$.

believe it or not, the most worked channel in a surround system from 3.1 up is the Center. if you meant that you listen to a lot of 2 channel music more so than movies, then yes, that would be true. in my bedroom, i have a 5.1.2 and i have a 2 channel external Emotiva UPA-2 amp because i listen to a lot of 2 channel music @ 2.0 (got big speakers) so, i like the added headroom the external amp gives my music at all volumes. i run my front L & R at full range/large even during movies. my receiver handles the center, surrounds and the ceiling speakers.

Thank you drmdvl & solarrdadd. Maybe I'll invest and get a 3 channel amp and save money. I know the front 3 are the major contributors.

I believe your receiver should be able to do either 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 ATMOS/DTS:X

first, make sure your player is bitstreaming HDMI audio and that secondary audio is turned off.

secondly, if your not getting it that way, still keep the above true, then on the remote, and I don't know the particulars of your remote/receiver functionality, but, there is a section called "listening modes" I think one of the first 3 buttons should give you a menu that depending on the codec being bitstreamed will include ATMOS/DSU or DTS:X/Nerual:X .

keep us posted. also, always list the components in the circuit, in your case, you didn't tell us the player you are using and also mention how it's setup i.e. bitstream (raw untouched) LPCM (decoded by player) you want the former, not the latter.

when things are set up properly, when you hit the "info/display" button on the player remote you should see the codec (for example) Dolby TrueHD and when you hit the "info/display" button on the receiver you should see Dolby ATMOS (if it's an ATMOS movie) or Dolby TrueHD if it's a non ATMOS TrueHD movie

keep us posted.

I can get Dolby atmos fine it's just the dts x that will not play. For some reason DTS X get down converted to DTS master Hd. Also I have no sound from the heights. I test them they work. The player is Samsung k8500. Bitstream uncompressed. No down sampling of any kind. I have the receiver set with all zones off at 7.2.4 and it is on direct or pure direct sound mode. I have the extra speakers connected to an emotiva xpa-5. Just no sound in the heights with Dolby atmos displaying. Still no decoding of dts-x. I'm sure it's something simple I missed.
Thank you

Ok I have height sound. I knew I did something stupid with that because I had it before. Still no DTS X decoding. I doubt it because the receiver is doing the sound decoding, but the player needed an update. So I am attempting that. So that's not the issue completed the update.

Maybe my firmware is not up to date even though it says it is an will not update. I'm currently running 1-289-011-722-193. I bought it from accessories for less maybe a 6 months ago or so. They said it was fully up to date. If anyone could please possibly check their SC-95 firmware and see if it matches. Also if it's not up to date and I have to do it manually provide a link. Thank you very much.

keep in mind, it's not getting downconverted. the core for DTS:X is DTS-HD-MA 7.1 so, perhaps your receiver hasn't gotten the DTS:X codec update and perhaps it will not. I think it should have gotten it like last year or something. check with pioneer to be sure if the firmware was released or if not, will it. your firmware may be showing up to date and that might be true; perhaps they just haven't released DTS:X for some reason or another.
