Default All I See Is You (2017) (Blake Lively, dir. Marc Forster) - Oct. 27, 2017

Also starring Jason Clarke, Danny Huston, Wes Chatham and Yvonne Strahovski.

Quote:
Gina (Blake Lively) and husband James (Jason Clarke) have an almost perfect marriage. After being blinded as a child in a nearly fatal car crash that claimed her parent’s lives, Gina depends on James to be her eyes—a dependence that appears to solidify their passionate relationship. She sees her world in her own vivid imagination with help from James’ descriptions. Despite her disability, the two enjoy a colorful existence in Bangkok, Thailand where James works in insurance and Gina explores life in a foreign country. It seems the only real hardship this loving couple faces is difficulty conceiving a child but when Gina is given the opportunity to have a corneal transplant and regains her vision, their life and relationship are upended. Gina now sees the world with a new sense of wonder and independence which James finds threatening. It is only when Gina suddenly begins to lose her sight again that she finally realizes the disturbing reality of their marriage and their lives.

Finally. I feared this would end up going straight to home video.

Looks good to me, I like the camera work and style they're going for. Reviews are a bit torn, suggesting typical Marc Forster work, but I'll give it a go, there's enough there for me to be interested.

Was unaware of this film until now. Both trailers look really good, more so the first one.

Marc Forster, Blake Lively, Jason Clarke. Where do I sign up?

I liked that first trailer a lot. Visually it looks quite interesting. I'm not going to watch the second trailer, since I'm really interested in seeing this.

3/5.

It’s a fairly straightforward drama with psychological aspects to it. It’s far too predictable for me to tell you all it’s amazing. It’s fine, nothing extraordinary.

Blake gives a really great performance here as Gina. Everything about her portrayal as a blind woman is grounded in realism and after regaining her vision in one eye thanks to the surgery, her new lease on life and mission of self discovery is all very natural. This is her film, everyone else around her, including her husband, is simply an accessory.

Jason Clark continues to play a really good scumbag. I won’t give away anything but his character arc is fairly predictable but he sells it. For every awful thing Blake does that is supposed to make you dislike her character, Jason does something 100x worse to make you go “oh nah, f*ck him”.

The ending is super predictable and a tad clichè but it’s very poetic in its nature.

Now for the visuals. Stunning. The way they visualize her seeing blind and then coming into her new vision, it’s all very beautiful.

Total clickbait, I know, but these nasty blurbs did stoke my interest quite a bit. I live for polarizing films, so I'll be seeing this Asap. Possibly tonight.

This must have been an extremely limited release because I never saw any theatres near me showing the film.

Yeah, only opened in 283 theatres, dropped 280 of them week 2 and was completely out of theatres after that 2nd week. Only made $218,000.

Was the only one in my theater when I saw last year. It's beautiful and fascinating, while also being batshit crazy and unabashedly melodramatic. Had a blast with it!

I'll almost certainly be blind-buying this based solely on who is involved.

I don't think I've ever seen the blu-ray in stores either, just the DVD.
