Second this suggestion heartily; this is long overdue. Hopefully not a problem with elements like I believe Peck's other Columbia of that year, Mackenna's Gold, is being delayed by.

I watched this from a recent TCM showing on the DVR, it looked good. It's on par with how The Andromeda Strain, and Colossus: The Forbin Project looks, acceptable for a BD release.

This movie has not aged well! I mean, sure, at the time of its release it's not hard to see that its special effects were deemed Oscar-worthy, but today it looks very weak. And the script doesn't exactly help matters.

I watched this mostly because it was referenced in Roma, and the best thing we can say about it today is that at least it may have inspired Alfonso Cuaron to make Gravity.

I can appreciate that viewpoint, but I have a longer history with this movie having seen it in the 1970s, and several times since, on TV. It is of its time, and is definitely not a pulse pounder, but it is a bit of a character study under extreme conditions, and I somewhat enjoy its dry, technical side.
