Default Annoying PS3 Pop-up DVD Menu (Triangle) while viewing Blu-ray movies - fixed

Does anybody else here experience this and can offer a solution or some info on what SCEA's official line is on this annoying problem?

I use my PS3 to play Blu-ray movies and have experienced a number the DVD pop up menu while viewing my movies (the one you get when you hit the green triangle). I have the Sony Blu-ray remote paired with my system and I am caught up with the latest updates. I am not jostling, touching, or otherwise activating the remote or the game controllers. Yes, I have Wi-Fi and I do have a cordless phone (5.8 not 2.4 frequency to avoid interference).

Thanks for your ideas/suggestions.

Yes, using a PS3 controller for Blu-ray movies isn't fun. I find the triggers to start fast-forwarding the movie when I put down the controller.

Only took me 2 days to run out and buy the Bluetooth remote! It works extremely well.

I've never seen this happen. What movies is it happening with? Any particular pattern? Maybe you have something enabled to notify you when an Easter Egg is available?

Yeah what Lepton said!

I hated having the controller while watching a movie. Pick up the bluetooth remote its worth the 20-25 bucks.

I'd remove the remote from the PS3's list of connected devices, then watch a movie using the controller to navigate through. See if the menu pops up. If it doesn't, then it's either a faulty remote or something interfering with the bluetooth receiver in the PS3.

It happens to me too. It also happens when I use the browser. It's quite annoying . I don't have the remote yet, though.

Default Got the Blu-ray remote

Yes, I already have the Blu-ray remote, and the problem was also noticed on the main Sony Playstation 3 forums. Nobody seems to have an answer on the game side, so I thought I'd try to check with the movie watchers. Thanks for replying. Any ideas?

Ive watched about 6 movies so far and this has not happened to me.

I use the controller and find it easy, so Ill be keeping it instead of buying another remote.

I think I may have solved the problem. I started thinking about the problem as a Bluetooth issue. Once I started thinking along those lines, it made me think of the occasional Bluetooth headset misconnection, which led me to reconsider, why not re-do the pairing of the Bluetooth DVD remote control to the PS3? So I tried it. And you know what...it seems to have worked!

I've seen two movies so far with no pop-ups. Thanks to everyone for helping.
