Iblard Jikan. This joint project between Studio Ghibli and Ioue Naohisa (the artist who made the art for the fantasy scenes in Whisper of the Heart).
![]() This is on Blu-ray in japan at least __________________________________________ ![]() I want the latest Studio Ghibli film "Tales From Earthsea" on blu-ray. You can get a DVD of it with English subs. But it would be cool to have on blu-ray. Do you think we'll see more of the classic Studio Ghibli films on Blu-ray? I bet they could fit them all on 2 Blu-Ray discs ![]() ![]() But my all time favorite Hayao MIYAZAKI film is Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind. I actually lived in japan from 84 - 86 and my dad recorded this movie while we lived there. |

Disney has the US rights to Ghibli titles, so I would expect to see them on Blu-ray. I would really like to see Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. I didn't like the Earthsea books at all and hated the Sci Fi channel's version, but am curious to see if Ghibli could improve it.

I love all of Hayao MIYAZAKI films. Ya, I agree Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away would look amazing on Blu-ray. Howl's Moving Castle would be great too!

Not to throw this off topic, but I noticed they will be releasing Flag on BD in Japan as well. Here is the translated link: Flag
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to say anything about English anywhere. So far, the only Anime titles on BD in Japan that have had any English (either subs and/or dubs) that I know of have been Ghost in the Shell:Innocence, and the forthcoming Blu-ray+DVD releases from Bandai, of which I have two on pre-order from CDJapan (Patlabor and Ghost in the Shell). This makes no sense to me as Japanese releases are Region A and Anime is huge in North America. Why are they not putting English on the titles? ![]() |

As for Iblard - it doesn't need subs or dubs really. It's more of an eye (and ear) candy piece. |

Man I would love to own most Ghibli films on Blu-ray.
Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's moving Castle, The Cat Returns, Totoro, Nausicaa, Laputa, Earthsea, Porco Rosso, Whisper of the Heart, On your Mark (my favorite short animation), Kiki's Delivery Service, Grave of the Fireflies... <-- Big Ghibli/Miyazaki fan! o^__^o |

It's not that good anyway, and the author has disowned it. Ghibli BR, except for new releases are several years away at least, unitl there's more decks out there. |

Blame that on Disney Buena Vista USA who did all the encoding on DVD for all regions.

A contractor for Disney USA does all the Ghibli titles for all regions they own them in. I know this because when the Kiki problem with the sound FX track being mistimed came up, I got in contact with them and he confirmed it, and checked it against the R2/3. When I was suprised he had them, he told me they do all of them here. You'll find the vast majority of foreign editions of major studio titles are done right here in the US, though often by a lower level contractor than the US release cause they're recycling a lot of the assets. |
