Don’t think there’s a thread for this yet.

This is Disney, yeah? So, no 3D in the States.

"But it'll be in 4K though!!"

This releases tomorrow in the US. 3D showings appear to be very limited, especially in IMAX theaters. Reviews so far have not been very favorable. So I don't expect the 3D version to stay in theaters very long.

This movie will be as big a failure as Black Panther was a Hit.

My friend worked on the movie so we got to go to the special screening in LA....let's just say I'd want my money back if I had paid for it.

Seen these type of films before. Even way back on Star trek and twilight zone episodes. Mrs. Peregrine too.

If this has new twists, could be fun. Especially in 3D. Or if it is bad like some are speculating, maybe like other films, being immersed in 3D could save it.

Hi freaky,

Are you saying the Disneyland opening was the highlight of the movie?

The 3D in the trailer in theaters was impressive. I'll probably see it for that and the story sounds kind of interesting with the fantasy realm theme.

This movie stinks from a distance and I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole in 2D but of course I would love to watch it in 3D.

The irony is that if it flops hard, Disney will probably do a Pete's Dragon on it and not release it on 3D blu-ray at all, so if you want to see it in 3D you'd better buy a ticket...

The mixed ratings the film is getting don't seem that harsh, but with ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, it's often all or nothing (fresh/rotten), so a decent movie tends to get a thumbs down even with some of the critics saying there are good points to the film.

If this wasn't in 3D, I wouldn't consider it. So hopefully there are enough 3D fans out there who see the potential of the 3D in Wrinkle in Time to go see it while it's in 3D theaters.

It'll depend on if there were enough fans of the book to see the movie, but I see what you're saying about the chances of a blu ray 3D version.

My Cinemark and other theaters thankfully have plenty of 3D show times for Wrinkle in Time for Friday. That tends to be a decent sign for how the film may do. If there was only one 3D showing during the day, that suggests the theater has little confidence in the film, as I noticed in the past.

Saw it last night. I'm glad 4dx has been 3D showings only so far when the film is, cause otherwise the 3D is very limited. Of the three theaters closer to the Regal, two are doing one 3D showing a day (one theater has it on two screens as well), and one is doing 2D only (though they are keeping a dedicated 3D screen for Black Panther still, along with a 2D screen for that).

I read the book as a kid, and just don't think it's an easy one to adapt, and the movie has some nice visuals but is pretty dull. 3D is good though, depth is usually medium with some nice strong moments as well, and are some good pop outs with things like magic flowers.

There were 3D trailers for The Nutcracker, The Grinch, and Ralph Breaks the Internet (the 3D on this looked more conservative than the other two, but really liked the trailer itself as did the audience), and 2D trailers for Love Simon, Ready Player One, Uncle Drew, and The Miracle Season (while I had seen different trailers for some of the other movies before, other than The Miracle Season they all used new trailers).

I watched this last night on a Cinemark 70' XD 3D screen

The 3D is from "just ok" to "great" , the live action scenes are standard to medium style spacing with normal style conversion scenes. When the CGI elements kick in the 3D really kicks it up a notch , you have ribbons , rain , flowers and other CGI elements breaking very far into the theater, the flower scene really stands out because is a reach out and touch it moment.

The movie itself is pure fantasy/fiction , so you need a good imagination and suspension of reality when you watch it. To me..... The movie seems tailored for kids in the 8 - 16 year old range. The overall message is a Positive vs Negative outlook in life and the Universe.

Just got back from seeing this in 3d and pretty much an identical experience.

The film itself is the problem here. I haven’t seen it yet but don’t think I’ll bother. It’s getting universally trashed and the same reasons are repeated over and over. That points to the criticism being legit since everyone says the same thing. Multiple reviewers, including a few I regularly follow also said the same thing about the film. It’s just bad. Some pretty visuals at times but that’s s it. Jumbled plot, bad editing, plodding, boring, giant oprah causes groans, etc, etc.

As much as I want to add 3D films to my collection, I ain’t doing it with bad movies.

This will be the first 3D release I will pass on if indeed it is released on bluray. For one, I do not like Oprah Winfrey, not even a little bit and most the reviews are just plain awful anyway.
