United Kingdom Willard + Ben. Limited edition from Second Sight

This comes out as a limited set, 30th Oct 2017. Also both films have individual releases.

Not seeing anything here with these titles or this particular release, these are getting SF releases and some seem excited.

Just wondering if anyone is going for these? It's £24.99 on Base, £10 cheaper then Amazon. Thinking of blind buying as I do like killer rat movies, but are these tame? Crap? Or are they amazing and just slipped under the radar!

I get that if Arrow had this release it'll have been sold out.

£19.99 at HMV

https://store.hmv.com/film-tv/blu-ray/willard-ben

Ordered earlier this week, think it's an error as the individual titles are £14.99 each.

Right. Might give them a go at that... just never heard of them. I have this Willard

I'm assuming this set carries the original. I've heard of Ben, from the song. Just the lack of interest is putting me off blind buying and I'm thinking either they're both lame or so poorly advertised that the set won't sell and I'm seeing this at £8.99 in six months. Either way, buying now seems wrong. But it's limited so...

Mmmm...

I do like the art on the box, but I don't know about the films - a tenner for each film seems about right, and I think these are direct ports of the Shout! Factory ones.

There's some reviews on dvdcompare.net:

Willard review:

Ben review:

They're both in HMVs 2 for £25 - but I'd wait for these to enter a 5 for £30.

I've seen the Crispin Glover remake of Willard - pretty good.

At that price ordered. Actually it is inline with HMV's standard Second Sight pricing which often goes down to £9.99/£10.99 soon after release and the site is listing this as released on 9th October. Either way I'm locking it in at that price.

Not seen either as they're pretty hard to find (supposedly never released on legit home video but due to reputation I'd be surprised if that's true) The Fortean Times review of Willard calls it a good but strange film, throws around phrases like "exploitation in Hollywood clothing" and recons it a precursor to/inspiration for later nature attacks and nerd revenge horror films. All of which is enough to pique my interest at £10 a title.

Got a feeling neither this nor Ben is going to be a classic but worse case scenario I'll file it away until it's OOP and get most of my money back on Ebay.

I've locked in the HMV order, too. Can't believe this has gone up to £35 on Amazon! I haven't seen either film, either, but I know they are highly regarded in some circles.

I'm probably in the minority in that i prefer Ben to Willard....neither of them are classics though in my opinion.

I've never owned a Second Sight box set. Does anyone know if their outer slipcases are usually really sturdy (like Arrow's recent Donnie Darko and Phenomena sets), or pretty flimsy like a basic Blu-Ray slipcover? I already have the individual U.S. releases, though I want to sell them get this set if the outer slipcase is a heavy duty one.

Their From Beyond and Assault on Precinct 13 outer cases were of the sturdy type.

Decline Of The Western Civilization Collection was also a sturdy box.

Bugger, I didn't realise the movies were in their own cases, I had the impression it was a single case with poopy new artwork. I'd better order this, now that it's sold out at HMV online. (Argh!)
