Default Speeding up PS4 downloads

Hi guys and gals

Been doing a bit of reading on the internet and all the solutions people have been trying out over the years to beat the slow download speeds PSN gives you including DNS changes, pausing and restarting downloads etc. but the best and only solution to fix slow downloads is apparently to set up a proxy network and have the PS4 connect to that when downloading.

https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comment..._have/d7h1edx/

There's also a 2017 link in Google to a Forbes article too which explains the process a little bit easier but the above thread kind of goes into more details as to why PSN download speeds are so hampered. I'm due to get 200 mbp/s from Virgin Media fibre installed at some point soon but wanted to know if any of you guys with 100 mbp/s and greater connections might also be able to corroborate increased download speeds with this method.

NB - If you planned to play online and download updates, games etc. then using the proxy isn't a real possibility because of what the proxy does. It's something you switch to get something downloaded ASAP and then back to normal settings.

It's always downloaded pretty quickly for me. I usually just put it in rest mode, and everything goes super quick from there.

All I have to do is connect it straight to my router and it downloads a game in 20-30mins.

I hear what you guys are saying but even with those 2 methods, the PS4 doesn't download at its best for those with very fast >100mbp/s connections available so this is mostly for them tbh.

This method allows you to drastically cut down the time of downloads compared to before and take full advantage of your ISPs speed rather than be limited by usual technical limitations.

If it's worked fine for you, I understand. It's not a method for all tbh.

I got gigabyte internet and my clocked out at 200mp. At least it shows that on my X1 when downloading things.

I heard if you have gigabyte internet it does tend to cap out at that much but for people not lucky enough to have access to that level of speed, say those with between 100-300mbp/s, this method I've read helps pull it up quite a bit.

How's your upload speed? Hear that's quite important for online gaming. In the UK, it's quite poor in terms of high download and upload speeds compared to USA.

I've got gigabyte as well, max upload is 880mbp/s and max download is about 960mbp/s. All that being said, both PS4 and Xbox One cap out about 200-250 download from the respective stores. When I previously had 150mpb/s I rarely saw speeds above 100 mbp/s. I'm sure the proxy helps with people maxed out at 100-300, but probably will not help speeds over that. The Xbox actually reports speed tests up to 500 but only in the test and not in practical use.

With gigabyte internet, I heard that it almost brute strengths the downloads which isn't the case for 100-300mbp/s and that's why hopefully when I get a 200mbp/s connection up and running, I'm going to also do it this way. Downloads have been ridiculously long at times for me tbh and I wanna make them as short as possible and play asap so thought I'd share for those it can help.

I get 300 mbps and Horizon Zero Dawn took 5 hours connected directly. PSN was giving me something garbage like 23-40 per.

Crash Bandicoot Nsane trilogy only took about 25 min though more recently though. Crash is 16gb smaller.
