i enjoy horror, action, thriller, sci fi, comedies pretty much all movies.

the only movie i can currently think of is... city of god.

Have you seen City of God? If not SEE IT! its one of the best movies ever made imo.

ANd if you can see it in theaters I would highly recommend Slumdog Millionaire.

A couple Brad Anderson movies:

The Machinist -- edit: just saw you already saw this

Transsiberian (w/ Woody Harrelson, Ben Kingsley) -- a murder mystery set aboard a train on (get this...) the Trans-Siberian rail-line.

As for some others:

Audition -- won't say much about this, but seems up your alley

Der Untergang -- a WWII movie about Hitler's final days; it's obviously in German, but is easily one of the best (if not the best) WWII movies (not to mention a scene was used in what became one of the funniest clips on YouTube, when Hitler had his X-box Live account banned).

In America -- a story about an Irish family immigrating to the US, sometime in the 90s or so (though the movie never specifically states when), told mostly through the perspective of the 10 year old daughter...for some reason this movie really got to me

Cube -- I mention this because you mentioned liking sci-fi, and this is sort of a cult-classic sci-fi/thriller movie; a bunch of strangers are put into a deadly, never-ending maze of cubes; might make you scratch your head, but I say give it a shot

Also, I disagree with some of the movies others have recommended. Not because they aren't good movies (because they are good) but because they're not exactly non-block buster. Movies like Big Fish and 3:10 to Yuma had pretty wide releases while in theaters, and Big Fish in particular had quite a marketing campaign behind it, heralding it as "our generation's Wizard of Oz", or something like that.

Haha, yes!

I was visiting a friend once during college, and after he went to bed, I looked through his DVDs (all 4-5 of them) and saw In America, so I popped it in and watched it, and then after going back home the next day, instantly ordered it on Amazon.

I was going to mention Igby Goes Down too, but figured I'd just stop naming movies, because I could go on for a while.

Got lucky enough to see it at an independent theater when it was first released. Not knowing much about it before seeing it, I was pleasently surprised. It's a very powerful film. I of course own it now and recommend it whenever I can.

Watch In America first, and if you can make it through the movie without feeling like crying (no matter how manly you are) then I will tell you more.

Haha, well...Scar is a mean guy, and I hated Jonathan Taylor Thomas, so I hated to see Mufasa go (because it meant seeing more of Simba).

Here are a few more (before I call it a night):

King of Kong -- a documentary about two guys who "compete" for the world record in Donkey Kong; its a fascinating movie if you have any interest in video games, but even if you don't it's an interesting (albeit maybe slightly depressing) documentary about how some people just want to be good at something in life, even if it's just a stupid game

The Spanish Prisoner -- a David Mamet suspense movie, based around the con-game of the same name; Sony's website compares it to The Usual Suspects, North By Northwest, and The Man Who Knew Too Much, if you've seen any of those

Brick -- a modern-day film-noir, if that makes any sense; sort of a mystery/crime movie, based around a high school crime ring...really good dialogue in the movie

Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada -- a modern day western, I think this is Tommy Lee Jones' directorial debut; it stars him and Barry Pepper, going on a bit of a journey to bury TLJ's friend (Melquiades Estrada)...the title is based on the Mexican belief/idea that people die three deaths (the first is when your body ceases to function; the second is when you are buried, and nobody can see you anymore; the third --which is the most significant-- is when nobody remembers who you were anymore).

Brick - yep this a must see!!

Thank You For Smkoking - A great comedy that hasn't been on many radars. Aaron Eckhart is incredible in this film as a lobbyist for the Tobacca industry. The whole movie is satire and it has some great and intersting dialog.

No Reservations - this is somewhat depressing drama with Catherine Zeta Jones, Aaron Eckhart, and Abigail Bresslin. It is kind of depressing and there are some real tear jerking moments, but it does end on a happy high note.

Primer
This is an independent Sci Fi film made a few years back. It is about time travel and is very well done on a low budget. It is a fantastic film.

Twilight
Not the vampire film, but the Paul Newman film from the 90's. Excellent mystery film. Very good.

Gangster No. 1
Great British gangster flick with Paul Bettany and David Thewlis. It is about the rise of a lackey to gang leader. Excellent film.

The Salton Sea
Murder mystery starring Val Kilmer and directed by DJ Caruso

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
Possible true story of the life of Chuck Barris who created the dating game and says he was in the CIA.

The Crimson Rivers
Cool French cop film.

Dirty Pretty Things
Good movie. Awesome cast. A must see. I don't really want to give anything away.

The Limey
Awesome movie about a father looking for revenge for the death of his daughter. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring Terrence Stamp.

Session 9
Very good horror type film starring David Caruso and Josh Lucas.

Sexy Beast
Awesome gangster film starring Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone

That is a lot of em I like and a lot of people have not seen.
