I don't know what it is, but I hate the Sirius music channels. It seems that I hear the same songs all the time. I miss the Squizz and Ethel. I do like having the NFL and Stern, but it's just not the same as the old XM. I would consider canceling, but the radio options in my town are even worse. Anyone else agree?

I was waiting for the merger to finish before becoming a subscriber. Since the merger I've heard things have only gotten worse, and that the merged company is in danger of going bankrupt. If they get their act together and resign Howard Stern I may become a subscriber.

I tried to give the new channels a chance, About the only channel that really hasn't changed that much is High Octane (although I have started noticing greater repitition)
The Boneyard (now Hair Bands) is useless, unless of course, you like Cinderella, Tesla, Great White and Warrant repeated every 20 minutes. Overall though, I think XM's programming was much more superior to what Sirius has. Thanks to them removing Fred, Ethel and ruining the other stations, I may cancel when my subs expire in May. There's plenty of alternatives out there (such as decks you can attach Zunes and IPods to as well as flash drives) and besides, the reception out here in Western Washington is shoddy at best. Drive anywhere around here and you'll be lucky to have a signal for more than a couple of miles. I actually live in Redmond and the reception is horrible. I was told that the repeaters out here need to be upgraded by the customer service person. Anyway, I have noticed their desperation for membership because they have the DJ's hawking lifetime subscriptions for $100 less than normal. Plus Sirius' stock was about 20 cents a share around the time the merger became official, and it's now around 12. If they lose any of their headliners such as Stern, Oprah or Opie and Anthony or any of their sports channels, they will be in huge trouble. Last edited by SeahawxBlu; 12-22-2008 at 10:47 PM. |

I got Sirius for Stern and Bubba. At first I was enthralled with the programming, but quickly realized that the track repetition was similar to terrestrial radio, although not nearly as bad. You can expect to hear the same songs from the same bands. Only rarely do I hear a rare gem being thrown in for flavor.
I'm sure the company is going through some growing pains since the merger so I'm waiting to see if the music programming improves. If not, I still have Stern and Bubba. |

I have had Sirius and still love it. I love Stern. I love Bubba, and the music stations while somewhat repetitive are still 1000% better than anything you will find on terrestrial radio and still commercial free.
They have removed/changed a few channels I wish they would bring back to original form (punk channel, Hard Attack) but I am still happy with them overall. Sat radio is a godsend on log car trips. I'll repeat, Commercial radio is the WORST. At least here in DC. There is nothing good to listen to musically speaking. |

we have sirius and had XM for a while. My wife and I hated XM. The music channels were not as good as sirius in our opinion. XM came with our new car and did not renew after te 3 month trial period.
I am kinda surprised to hear all the positive things about XM hear. They must of changed alot in the last year and a half. we still love sirius except the players keep breaking on us ![]() |

I got sirius, and always listen to Jason Ellis. As far as music, the channels fit my taste perfect.
