That’s not the version I read. The version I read was
[Show spoiler]it’s a different day, but she ends up getting killed by someone else, which I thought was pretty hilarious considering she’s hated by so many.

So does that mean there's more than one alternate ending?

Yea & I liked Premonition but wasn’t that the husband, had a pretty messed up ending though & still couldn’t stop what happened to him.

BTW how does this get a home release date before IT?

One was probably scripted, but not filmed. Interesting to see what ends up on the disc. The first ending is a mega cop out, though. At least the second is a slight tongue-in-cheek twist.

The ending to Premonition was supposed to poetic and symbolic on how we have little control on our ultimate fate, but how we can change the little details to alter our path to said fate.

I don't think it does? Release dates haven't been posted on the site yet.

Universal looks to be doing another staggered release: Blu-ray and DVD releases first then 4K UHD later.

Whereas Warner is opting to release all three formats at once.

Warner could also be prepping a theatrical re-release promotion for awards season.

I enjoyed this so much in the theater. It really is a fun movie, and Jessica Rothe was so great. This will definitely be earning a spot on my shelf -- once I find some more shelf space that is.

Pity that it's not unrated. A PG-13 horror movie is like drinking O'doul's instead of Guinness.

There isn’t anything to add to this. Its a perfectly fine PG-13 movie and the inspiration, Groundhog Day, is rated PG-13. I don’t understand why an R rating would make a movie better.

I agree. The rating has NO IMPACT on how good or bad a movie is. The only thing that makes a movie R rated is extreme profanity, nudity, sexuality, or extreme gore/violence. NONE of those things are guaranteed or proven to IMPROVE a bad movie.

VERY SELDOM is a movie R rated simply for being TOO scary, but it DOES happen, once in a GREAT while (The Conjuring, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho).

What makes a movie GOOD? A well-written script, engaging characters, a thrilling plot/story, great cinematography, and well-directed. Sex, Boobs and Gore does NOT make a bad movie better, and anyone who believes it does is very infantile.

Sorry, I don't like wussified horror movies with all the bite cut out. I had a friend who's opinion I trust in these matters said that the movie felt incomplete, like a made-for-tv movie.

(and I loath that Hollywood only chases the PG13 rating at the exclusion of everything else, but that's a whole new can of worms)

But hey, thanks for insulting me. I'm sure that will lead to a productive conversation between us.

The thing with Happy Death Day being a PG-13 presents a real catch-22. Its a great movie, but it really...REALLY needed to not hold back on the deaths to really capture the spirit of the slasher subgenre.

The Final Girls, which is another movie I enjoyed (Happy Death Day is the superior film, though) also had the same issue. Two great odes the slasher that should've been legendary had they went with an R-Rating. As is, they're two fun movies somewhat compromised by the bite being neutered a bit.

Happy Death Day is more of a romantic comedy with some slasher story elements thrown in, and that's the best way to approach the film. The movie captures a perfect mood with its PG-13 mindset, and that's a good thing in this instance.

There are plenty of other slasher movies out there where I can get my fix of boobs and blood. Happy Death Day, on its own terms, is a good-natured and endlessly rewatchable flick that puts a smile on my face.

That's how I see it as well. The Rated R bits probably wouldn't add much to the film anyway since the deaths aren't the point. The progression of the main character is.

My point was films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre has neither Sex, Boobs, NOR gore and yet it is listed as one of the scariest movies ever made.

The Conjuring is the same way, no sex, boobs or gore, and was among the scariest horrors films of it's year.

But there are PLENTY of horror films with plenty of Sex, Boobs AND Gore and yet, they are HORRIBLE films, POORLY MADE and POORLY received.

Surely people aren't thinking "Gosh, I wish that movie had more boobs and sex in it, then it was be a GREAT film."

Or ARE they???

Having not seen Death Day, I cant comment - but yeah, that's exactly my thoughts with the Final Girls. I love the hell out of the movie, but if you are going to make a love letter to the eighties slasher genre, then keeping it PG-13 really undercuts the movie. That scene where - oh, crap, I forgot her name - was strip dancing as bait was the time I went "Ya know, they really needed some boobs there." Keeping the boobies out of the movie until that moment would have really worked - the Precision F-Strike, if you will, but with tits.

I kept hoping for a more adult disc, but it was not to be.

I'm not saying it's a bad film. Actually, I don't know beyond what my friends told me about it. I'm just saying that I was disappointed at studio mandated neutering of movies and that they didnt embrace their slasher movie roots when given a chance.

But please, keep rolling your eyes at me. I'm sure that will help your argument and endear you to me more.

You're referring to Angela Trimbur, who was hella sexy in the film. Way sexier than she was in Rob Zombie's Halloween II, which is funnier as the latter is a hard R, but her character was pretty unappealing and had easily the worst lines in the entire film.

I couldn't help but laugh at your post. I'm not rolling my eyes at you, I respect people with a different viewpoint from my own, even if I don't agree. I'm not a judgmental jerk. LOL.

Funny. I come from, calling someone infantile and then responding with the rolling eyes emoticon is considering being insulting.

Whatever dude. Have a nice life. I'm done with you.
