Default Veterans Day 2017 (What film to watch?)

It's always been a tradition in my home that as a Veteran, what better way to honor my fellow brothers in arms than to watch a great war film.

Does anyone have any particular favorites? I always lean towards Saving Private Ryan but this year I'd like to change it up.

Cheers!

I'll be watching The Best Years of Our Lives and Flags of Our Fathers. Maybe even Hacksaw Ridge.

I haven't watched FOUF in a long time. That or Letters from Iwo Jima.

It's been a short while since I last saw it, but its going to be a little weird watching Flags now that John Bradley was confirmed as not being one of the flag raisers.

As a former army ranger who served in Iraq and Afghanistan I have a hard time watching war movies these days. I've been out for 6 years and still can't really watch them. My father in law who was in Vietnam still can't watch them. Saving private Ryan and band of brothers is probably my favorite that deal with war.

You have my utmost respect.

Was thinking the other day that Patton is probably my favorite war film. Tremendous performance by George C Scott

You should have gone Delta Force you p**** Totally joking of course! I was in the Marines myself but my time in couldn't have been more uneventful. You have my utmost respect as well!

I'll echo The Debts reply and suggest Black Hawk Down as well. And don't forget to get out there and get some free meals as well

I was thinking about Bridge on the River Kwai or Stalag 17 this year.

Band or Brothers or The Pacific comes up frequently.

Now if only they would make a modernized version of "Battle of Britain" HBO miniseries.
