For those of you who have experienced this sort of thing, whats my next step in getting my money back? It was $30 paid through Google Checkout, should I contact them?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking with my credit card bank, but I thought there was something I could do thru Google. Anyways, I looked over Google's site, but doesn't look like there's anything they have for fraudulent transactions.

Maybe when someone gets like three negative feedbacks or whatever, they can be banned or suspended or something.

This might not be good enough for those who got ripped off for the first time, heh... but just if it gets rampant or something.

He probably wanted one good transaction, to be able to get more offers. He, obviously, scammed various people and has been rightly Banned!

I would classify this as internet fraud. Contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and file a complaint. From this thread it seems this isn't the first forum to be hit and the FBI will investigate.

The only thing that I've seen work is that on a different forum all the members banded together and got organized. They contacted the thief's local authorities and were able to press charges. Unfortunately in their case, they didn't properly follow up and the guy went free after being picked up.

That would be my suggestion if folks wanted to try and get the guy. However it'll require finding out more about him than a user name. Perhaps a mod in this case could release some of his information if people affected wanted to do that.

The process does work although it can be a bit slow at times. The FBI does collect data and will track the patterns of complaints. They can only act if they have enough info to make a case. Even if they don't have that info at this time they'll still retain the data in the event additional info surfaces at a later date. They do have sophisticated methods and ways to track down an internet individual.

I don't remember if it was called the IC3 at the time, but a number of people including myself, were victims of internet fraud (I believe it was in 2000). At that time, I was able to identify that this criminal was selling on a number of auction sites (yahoo, eBay, etc), had her address and even her cell phone number. I was able to organize a group of her victims and we filed complaints with the FBI, USPS (some people sent checks and MOs through the mail), our and her local attorney general's office, etc.

The case went on for years and I even received updated notices from the Dept of Justice throughout the years, was kept abreast of upcoming hearings which were always open for us to attend, and had options to submit any additional information we had including sending letters to or speaking directly to the judge at the hearing. She was later sentence to 63 months in jail.

You can read a bit more at this site:

Actually it'll be easier. His name is Alex Haxton and he runs a site called Thessalynobility.com and it's a registered business. Easy as pie to get any more info especially since he was using his business's google checkout account.

(He's been banned from multiple forums on suspicion of fraudulent business practices too)

Too funny...... he's selling titles of Nobility like Barons and Dukes. I wonder if he has been hangin out with Brogajivich! "Honest.... I have it TIGHT with the Queen...... I can get you Knighted!"
