Default 'Brokeback Mountain' - anyone notice the clunky layer change?

I just bought the UK BD release of 'Brokeback Mountain' released by EIV. I was quite surprised that the layer change actually caused a slight but noticeable pause in the film. Normally, layer changes on dual-layer BDs are totally seamless, presumably because all BD players have memory buffers. But this one isn't seamless. I assume it's just a bad bit of encoding on the disc, but has anyone else noticed this?

the BD-50's are dual layer but I think they are alittle more advanced than dvds so we dont see it. Heck I seldom noticed it with DVDs

i don't know if it was done purposley, but the layer change on dvd's usually fell on a scene change which worked out nice b/c u didn't notice it too much.

then there was always the one oddball where it changed in the middle of the scene.
