I often lurk on these forums rarely contributing to posts but i have to make an exception today as this is undoubtably one of the movies i have loved religiously in the days of DVD and in my humble opinion is one of STEPHEN KINGS best adaptation. I felt like an emotional wreck after the first time watching it it left such an imprint on me and the acting by all was so raw and exemplary.

Literally cant wait to own this one! The old lady that Kathy Bates nurses to her untimely demise is just CHILLING in this movie.

The ending isn't though. Probably the most emotional of any King adaptation -- and also one of the best, by far.

FINALLY! Brilliant film and a performance from Kathy Bates every bit as good as hers in Misery.

Remember thinking this one was a bore in the theaters as a kid. But after doing a quick imdb/wiki read it looks like this was considered one of the better received King adaptations and so I'm going to give it another visit.

Many "kids" did...thinking it was a Misery part 2.

The Blu-ray also rectifies an omission on the DVD that has always bothered me. The film was released theatrically in 5.1, but the DVD had only a DD 2.0 soundtrack. The first thing I asked, when I heard that WAC had this title in the pipeline, was whether they were using the right soundtrack. I'm looking forward to hearing it accurately for the first time since the theater.

I remember a gaggle of annoying teens yukking it up at the movie when I saw it in theaters ([CLOSEUP OF KATHY BATES' WEATHERED HANDS] ~ "How's she supposed to masturbate with those?" ). It was totally ignored in theaters due to it not being a "typical" King adaptation.

Superman dropped tp $18.99 a couple of weeks after release. Warner Archive has a few sales a year where you can buy 4 movies for $44 (free shipping, iirc). But, they usually leave the new ones off the sale. But if you want to wait, you can wait for one of those sales. Other than that, Warner Archive movies don't really drop in price. It might drop a few bucks is all.

Looks pretty good. Maybe a touch soft, especially on facial features, but on the other hand, posters, headlines and nameplates on desks in the police office are all quite detailed and legible. If I’m mildly underwhelmed, surely it’s just because I’m encountering more and more UHDs every week, so most BDs, while still quite nice in their own regard, come off a little “flat” in comparison.

Caps-a-holic has posted comparisons to the US DVD which is a definite upgrade.

The colors in that eclipse sequence at the end are going to pop! But, so will the matte lines. Glad this is getting an updated sound mix, the standard DVD was in 2-channel Dolby Surround, but had an S.D.D.S.(not 8-channel, but 6) mix, theatrically. Rejoice!

Pop the colors did indeed, as well as the matte lines. Still looks pretty good though.
