The FSK logo is printed on the J-Card.

The tech infos are printed on the back of the J-Card.

A nice limitation number!

Glossy finish!

The back shows Hudsucker jumping out of his office.

The front and back together.

The inside: the clockwork of Hudsucker Industries.

"You know, for kids!"

Here a review by DVDbeaver:

It looks like the Turbine have improved upon the image quality - a higher bitrate on a dual-layered disc and it looks negligibly superior with warmer skin tones and slightly tighter visuals. It's not a massive increase but it is there.

Will this release be more reliable than the Warner Archive manufactured-on-demand release, or is there no difference in printing quality?

What kind of a question is that?.. This is not printing on demand, just a regular BR.

I don’t think it should be a dealbreaker (maybe plastic straws are a dealbreaker though), but there is no English title on the spine and the film DOES have forced subtitles - to present the German translation of newspaper headlines and signs. If this is specific to my player I’d be interested, but this was playing the film with the English soundtrack, and subtitles turned off. I suppose when the English subtitle stream is selected this doesn’t happen. It can be a little distracting, but it’s a great film with a good transfer and the design of the case itself with the falling on the back cover and the cogs on the interior print is beautiful so don’t let that put you off too much.

I hope other territories e.g. the UK, France can license the film from Universal and provide more of a special edition though.

Did you try to turn those subs off manually via the remote? I'm sure you can. I'd only check via player myself later today.

Those subs are just player generated at any rate (and I can turn them off on the PC), but I never put the disc into the player yet (bought it only sometime last year, when I could get it very cheap, and didn't get to watching it yet...).

Just tried (with my Panasonic 704) and can't confirm: No such subs if I select the English 5.1 track via the regular disc menu. I checked those around the 4:00 and 4:22 mark. If I switch to German audio (again, via disc menu) those subs are there, if I switch back to English audio, gone again.

I initially also selected "Aus" in the disc's subtitles options - don't know and didn't try if it mattered.

Don't choose an option for the subtitles, don't even choose "Aus"/Off. Just use the audio menu to select English audio and then don't make any subtitle selection.

This worked for me to have English audio with no forced German subtitles.

Coming on July 14th in a keep case. The reversable cover features German poster art on the outside and US poster art on the inside.

Uh thanks for the heads up man!
Noticed the german release a few years ago - and with english subs! - but I didn't want that packaging, so the US release been on my wishlist ever since - without being bought!
One of the last Coens I need.

Keep in mind this was released by Warner in the US, Polygram overseas. Universal owing the post-May 1996 Polygram catalog explains this coming from Turbine instead of Warner.

This is a different, newer transfer than the one on the Warner Archive Blu. Warner HD master is a very old one they created for the original DVD release, while Universal's HD transfer is much newer but has issues of it's own, mainly EE and degraining but nowhere near the levels of the Universal masters for Big Lebowski and Weird Science.

Even more so, the original German release was handled by a local German distributor called Concorde. They went for a more dark-comedy angle in the marketing, putting the actual Hudsucker jumping out of the window onto each and every keyart there was. Even the German title translates as "Hudsucker: The Big Jump".
